Yeah well Special snowflakes get upseat about everything. 1. easy answer you are both Bi and like each other. but oh my what 2. if you play as a black person.. well the game dosnt have segregated water fountans or make you take a test before tou can chose your S.P.E.C.I.A.L so i gues its just a game then. people need to chill.

1. That does not help someone who is or is roleplaying as homosexual hence the alternative interpretation.

2. You can make an alternative interpretation of how you can live as you can which arguably would be needed if your character has an asian appearance due to America's conflict with China.

You would, however, not need an interpretation as to how your non-caucasian character would be selected for the Vault program since they could be selected for that very reason or they were, as an example, highly intelligent or impossibly lucky.

I came by a post in which someone was a bit upset about the prologue because the family was set and not optional so I thought of a possible alternative interpretation of the family that I decided to share;

Homosexuality - As homosexuality is socially unacceptable to put it mildly, you and a friend decided to marry to avoid suspicion falling on you or the both of you. You've adopted a child together as well.

Wild Wasteland - You and your partner are shapeshifters hence why you have the ability to alter your appearance simply by looking into reflective surfaces.

Actually I think you can change your spouse's gender, since the "sex" part is shown in both.

I'm pretty sure the spouses have set genders. You can only choose to play as the husband and the wife. The sex option is there only to allow you to choose between either of them. Besides, what's the point of the baby being set to look like the couple if not to show it's their biological child.

So you can both be the same gender? Seems a little odd with the setting but I'll be honest, I cannot remember if homophobia was a confirmed thing pre-war.

I think it's possible.

The baby could be adopted.

Either way it wouldn't make sense since in fallout you could even marry someone of the same sex (i think it was in 2?) and you can be gay or lesbian (by perks). So i can see them giving that option.

I am pretty sure it is set to be man and wife. I really don't see the issue. If you want to roleplay beeing gay, couldn't they just be good friends that decided to have a baby together? It happens.

Like i said people just need to chill. not everything needs to be catered to everyone.

it looks like the Confirmed Bachelor and Cheres le Femme is still there.

Honestly, I don't think Bethesda would think that far. I mean, the baby room scene pretty much shows them acting like an married straight couple. I think the game will give you an option to be BI at most. But that's just me.

Ofc, i want them to craft their own story and people shouldn't be all over it all the time. Now it is starting to become the Fallout 4 forum in here :D Just saying that there is plenty of ways to roleplay it that should fit everyone.

While in previous games you could be gay? And suddenly go the bi-straight route in the new game? Doubt it.

They only showed the straight couple. Wish we could have more info on it though. Maybe ask Bethesda on twitter.

Did it ever have a impact if you were gay though? Or bisexual for that matter, or straight? Sarah Lyons would still be fond of you regardless of your sex, same with Serana in Skyrim. It was more about personality than sexuality. The only thing that seperates it is the perks i guess.

If i remember right, there were lesbians and gays in f3 (and new vegas), and depending on your perk, you could flirt with them.

So yeah, it does have an impact.

Though, my memory is at most blurry so if i'm wrong feel free to correct me.

F3 you could kindof clumbsely come on to Amata in NV you had perks that made you gay and added dialog and gave a +5 damage to same sex opponents.

One thing I think about is that if we had two secondary spouses for same sex marriage, we would get two new voice acted characters we could play as. I mean, that would be an big deal. Not something they would ommit from the demo.

Oh....

That's a good point.

Hmm, maybe they use some random NPC voice?

To me its more thematic anyway. It is suppose to represent that standard glorified 1950's American Family. Like in that Vault-Tec trailer for Fallout 3. Except here the people are actually real.

Yeah, there are a minimum of something like 24 returning perks returning and 77 in total in the base game. Pretty cool reveal actually.
