Except radiation sickness is acknowledge that way and does work that way in game. It doesn't matter if it makes logical sense. Fallout has never made logical sense. All of it is based off of the LACK of knowledge held in the 40s and 50s, where science and magic might as well be synonyms.

Well, but you can't complain that robots won't be affected "realistically" by radiation sickness when it works off nonsense science to start. Once you accept it's nonsense science, then you can just about handwave anything away.

Hey, Jimmy. Do you have a hard time going back and playing Fallout 1&2 today with the differences in game play or do you find the games just as enjoyable as when you first played them?

Short answer... FO1, yes, FO2, no.

Long answer... I actually have far less time to game than I used to. Despite posting on here a lot (through my phone), I actually have very little time to sit at home on my PC and game. So when I do, I usually have a large backlog of new games I am wanting to play and get into. When I get the urge to scratch the nostalgia itch, I find I can't afford to sink as much time into old games as I'd like, simply because something new comes out or ends up in my library. I have playthroughs of FO1, FO2 and Arcanum all sitting on the shelf gathering dust simply because I get distracted, but not because I don't enjoy the games.

That being said, FO1 seems to not have aged as gracefully as FO2. Not to mention the FO2 Restoration gives it a lot of new life with extra content.

It's funny, despite Fallout 2 being my preferred game of the two, I find it the other way around. Temple of Trials mang. It just feels so daunting to start up a new game because of it. But it's been a while since I played either.

Having grown up responsibilities =/= having a life

If anything, it's the opposite! I wish I could say I didn't have time to game because I was out having fun or being social, but really it's just work and kids - that's 95% of my day already accounted for.

Yeah, those rad scorpions and giant ants are brutal for any non-melee based character. And traps galore... it feels like there are more in that area than any other single area of the game. Which really stinks... because Melee and traps aren't great skills for the game at large.

Still... the game does have a Deathclaw companion and New Reno. So infinite bonus points for that.

Back in my day, you could only save by paying money at an inn! And if your character died, they stayed dead until you paid their weight in GPs... if you could even bring them back to life at all!

And we had to level grind uphill both ways... in the snow! Without a walkthrough!

Couldn't help but laugh, then I remembered how close we came to annihilating ourselves. Makes me want to travel back in time and b*tch slap Oppenheimer.

Alright, alright, enough about Fast Jimmy's civilian life...

Has there been any speculation on unique new enemies for FO4? Or the appearance of Townie Boston ghouls?

Hey, at least it was the US who built the bomb first. Can you imagine if Germany had completed the first nuke in WW2? From Paris to Moscow would all still be irradiated.

I'd thought we can create a tangent between your civilian life and FO4.

By the way, I think I saw enemy androids in the Chowda Wasteland.

EDIT: Yes, Synth Striders.

Thankfully, they went a different route and were trying to use heavy water. Realistically the chances of them succeeding were almost none existent.

I'm out of my depth on a nuclear weaponry history discussion, so I'll take your word on it.

It is funny how the specter of nuclear war seemed to loom for decades, but then just disappear once the Cold War ended. When, in reality, a war between the US and China could just as easily plunge the world into the same level of destruction.

Some would argue that it's inevitable.

I suppose one could make that case. We've truly only become a worldwide society in the past century, so we have no idea what events can happen that would result in us all killing each other in some way, shape or form.

Then again, it is also inevitable that a super bug will evolve and wipe out the world's population, or one of the world's calderas (like in Yellowstone park) will eventually erupt and burn half the world, while blocking out the sun with sulphuric ash for the other half.

Still, it hasn't happened yet. So maybe there's hope after all.
