So Bioware finally has a rival to their formula? Now let's see if Bethesda add in cringy romances too...(although with Bethesda's past record of writing, the romances would no doubt be a lot worst).

I don't play Fallouts for romances.

There are several blown out churches scattered across the wasteland countryside...to a lesser extent in New Vegas.

There were two named pre-war Churches in Searchlight in NV. In one there were the Holy Hand Grenades [yes please!] if you have WW perk. The other one is where Logan is hole-up who has the keys to the fire and police stations.

Of note, there's also the Ark and Dove Cathedral in Point Lookout, which is actually a huge pre-war structure. Coincidentally, I'm using that interior/exterior for a mod as we speak.

There's also teh Drunk Cupid Chapel in New Reno in Fallout 2.  Run by Father Tully,

It's not exactly a place of holiness in the time of the Chosen One.  But it does predate the war.

There was also the Abbey, though that was cut content.

Yep. And most of the New Canaan material was for Van Buren and didn't make it, but by reference, into New Vegas; specifically Honest Hearts, and touched on lightly by Ringo and the Crimson Caravan.

It always been intriguing to me to think about what the rest of the world is doing. Is everyone dead, minus the occasional ghoul population? If Vaults were only a US device and FEV was limited to US soil (therefore no Super Mutants), is life even more barren than what we are shown in the games? Or have they moved on? Even more bizarrely, what if they've stayed locked, caught in a perpetual state of war since the bombs dropped?

Einstein said "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." What if a form of primitive tribal warfare is still going on, Chinese versus Americans, Canadians versus US peace keepers? After all, if Vegas was able to be safe from direct blast and nuclear fallout, the same would likely be true for large segments of the Canadian wilderness, far away from major metropolitan cities.

Anyway... just rambling at this point. Just meant to say it's not impossible that conflict could still be going on, in a twisted, frozen-in-time fashion.

There are surely places not affected by the radiation, as Raul lived in an farm in Mexico that was located far away from the metropolis. He only became an ghoul because he was forced to go to the irradiated mexico city to scavange food. So rural areas must remain rather untouched, but with the loss of the major civilized areas, it's only natural that what few remained of civilization quickly deteriorated. Not to mention mothership zeta shows the entire planet seems to be an irradiated desert.

Yeah the Vaults weren't actually designed to preserve human life.  The ones who managed to pull through were the exception rather than the rule.  So the bulk of humanity must be descendants of the survivors of the war.

However, radiation effects affects the Mohave around New Vegas, which was relatively untouched by the war (Mr House's defenses destroyed most of the bombs dropped in the area.)  So I wouldn't expect there to be many places significantly better off.

There are tons of Churches around the countryside of FO3. In fact, some are in the PipBoy map.

Huh. My memory must be fuzzy on those.

I was like HELL YES until I realized you were talking of the one in New Vegas and not her father. :(

So we are also getting housing in Fallout 4 without needing to disarm atomic bombs nor pay fees and we can apparently construct them ourselves! I like taking refuge in different places but I do also like having a home of sorts but I am a hoarder so I do kind of need a hoarding den.

Granted, there were locations where you could place your things without them disappearing but I'd like to live somewhere without having to worry about giant radscorpions stabbing and poisoning me as I drunkenly stumble home in the dark. On the other hand, they did completely negate the need for a "No Trespassers"-sign.

Come to think of it I did use to roll tin cans down the hill from the cemetery into their territory and loot their dead for organs to make pies... Now that I think about it I think I may have been the bad neighbor all along.

So did anyone catch the news of the guy who attempted to preorder Fallout 4 by mailing over about two thousand bottlecaps to Bethesda? Well, it apparently worked :)

Additionally in regards to the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition: "Purchases are limited to one (1) per platform, per customer. If you exceed this limit, all of your orders are subject to cancellation" - The Bethesda Store

It seems that they added this policy to combat the number of people who supposedly preordered multiple copies to sell at a later date on Ebay. How well this will work to the intent is debatable but it seems to mean there are Pip-Boy Editions avaliable yet again for those interested.

I actually prefer Veronica, but sadly for me, she doesn't cut that way. I like Cass too, but she wasn't my first option... if I had any, that is.....

What's funny is so far, no vault seen(FO,FO2,FO3 and NV) succeeded in their assign duty.

Vault 21 was an sucess, actually. It only got evacuated because of Mr. House interference.

Don't you feel no shame for what you did?

It depends on what you consider a success I guess. Vault Tech didn't care about humans surviving. It was experiments that they cared about. Even Vault 8's assignment could be seen as a failure if you play a horrible PC and kill everyone possible in Vault CIty. That's the freedom of the FO series.

So House DID ruin the experiment of vault 22 (which was all about gambling)

Vault 108 did.

Everyone is dead, Gary clones are everywhere (and they are hostile to non-clones) and some have gotten out into the waste. Hardly a success.

That relatively healthy humans still exist is enough of a success, I think.

edit: As for romance, it could be cool if it required them being well fortified and with some skills to defend themselves, if you left them in home/settlement. The world should be constantly dangerous for them. Maybe even fit this in as a plot.
