It depends on what you consider a success I guess. Vault Tech didn't care about humans surviving. It was experiments that they cared about. Even Vault 8's assignment could be seen as a failure if you play a horrible PC and kill everyone possible in Vault CIty. That's the freedom of the FO series.

So House DID ruin the experiment of vault 22 (which was all about gambling)

When it comes to Vault 21 (vault 22 was the one with mutated plants), it did suceed, not only in keeping it's ocupants alive, but also in it's experiment, were every issue in the vault was to be solved with gambling, and then everyone lived in a rather utopic anarchy.

And House came in, won and kicked everyone out and thus destroying the experiments.

I don't see how the experiment coming to an end by House of all people is a success.

Everyone is dead, Gary clones are everywhere (and they are hostile to non-clones) and some have gotten out into the waste. Hardly a success.

GARY! Gary Gary Gary!

Wich would be an valid point if he was an vault ocupant. But he was an outsider who disrupted everything. Not too differently from James and his actions disrupting the experiment going on in vault 101.

It was the final proof of the experiment's basic premise.

Don't you see? The House always wins.

I'm always fuzzy what the difference was between Vault 13 and 101. Weren't they both designed to never be opened?

I vote for either the Storyteller and Edna or Twig and Scarlet.

Vault 13 was to stay close for 200 years then be open, 101 was never meant to be open. Both failed in the end as 13 ran into the water issue and 101 ran into a population and resource issue.

Vault 13 was designed to be opened after 200 years. The experiment was to see how the people would react to prolonged isolation and how they would adapt once exposed to the outside. Vault 101 was designed to never open, period.

Edit: goddang it, ninja'd.

Was the water chip failing (or, at least, the lack of replacement chips) part of that 200 year clock? Or was it just the shipping error truly accidental? I know there was a mixup between the chips and the GECKs, but some part of me thought there was a hint that mixup wasn't a mixup at all.

I was like HELL YES until I realized you were talking of the one in New Vegas and not her father. :(

Still mad that she banged some random soldier after I single-handedly kicked Caesar in the teeth!

Tbh I was almost disappointed the Courier couldn't get with Christine in Dead Money.

I actually prefer Veronica, but sadly for me, she doesn't cut that way. I like Cass too, but she wasn't my first option... if I had any, that is.....

I don't care.

All of this is proof that waifus and husbandos are stuff the fans want.

Oh.

And also that Commander RPG is still in need of serious character development. Who's writing this guy anyway? Kishimoto?

The ultimate video game RPG eventually will culminate in the final boss fight being an NPC you have to use the right romance dialogue on, woo with EPIC level gifts and then have pixelated sex with in a button mashing QTE sequence that would make Bayonetta cry in jealousy.

People will BOW to it.

No, no... you just need to unlock his DLC. That's where all of his dialogue sections are.

If I'm not mistaken, the chosen one can ask the enclave president about that. He states it was an unfortunate accident that shouldn't have happened. Had the water chip not broken, things could have turned pretty differently.

Where's my romance for the Sneak Suit mk II?

But she doesn't notice me me, she's too interested in Dr. Klien or Borous. :crying:

So... a Japanese dating sim with quick time event sex scenes.

Pretty sure that already exists.

No thanks.

Actually I would prefer Bioware and Bethesda just doing a boss battle right for a change. Minus the sex scene QTEs. :P

Well, sure.

Donuts, bacon and cheeseburgers all existed separately... but the ultimate high note wasn't achieved until The Luther Bacon Cheeseburger was made!

The parts are all there... they just need to be combined to make an unholy idol to decadence and depravity.

I personally don't mind romances in video games. My issue is how BW tends to blow them out of proportion. I'm sure Bethesda could make romances that are a lot more sober.

Sober is one way of putting it.

I really don't like romances in RPGs. They often result in a weird type of wish fulfillment scenario of self-insertion that just practically breeds unhealthy attachment.

If you make a character that you identify with, that is practically a reflection of you in a fantasy setting with fantasy abilities... and that same character falls in love (and is returned love) with a character... what is that really saying? REALLY? That a fantasy, idealized version of the player romantically loves a work of fiction? The implications of such a thing are... really troubling, when you think about it.

Video games aren't movies or books... they aren't a passive medium, but an active one. We are more "doing" these interactions rather than just watching them. In that light, a game where you can make your own character and then have them declare love for another is... again, troubling, in my eyes.

I can take it or leave it. It can be a fun side game. If you start psychoanalyzing me for it though, you can suck my dick. How's that for romance? ;)
