... fair enough, but I doubt SuperDataResearch which conducted the survey those numbers are based on included Russian Prison Mafia in their survey:

Role-playing game: Games where players take on the role and decision-making abilities of a character in order to advance through a fictional setting. E.g.,EVE, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2.

They don't market men's razors to women, they market women's razors to women. Different brands, different designs, different marketing.

No, they actually rebranded men's razors and started to market them for women because they realized that they had saturated the market, and the only way to increase the market was to start to market to another demographic - women. The razor's were (and are) exactly the same, the packaging and ads are the only things that have changed.

The parallels are so obvious here there's not any room left for sarcastic comments. Pity.

(( And before anyone suggests it: NO! We don't need pink Mass Effect. But having female players and characters recognized in the marketing would be nice. ))

See above. Men are stupid. Tomb Raider sold because of big breasts.

... Why are men allowed to hide behind that excuse, but still allowed to participate in politics and administration? Boys are boys, expect when they are rational and capable men, unlike those wimmenz, with their emotions and periods.

That's demonstrably false. Most razors for women have more moisturizer around the blades and the blades are at a different angle to accommodate shaving legs, armpits and the "bikini zone." Many men who shave their armpits, arms, legs, etc use women's razors those areas because they get better results.

Hey, don't blame me. I voted for Hillary.

1) Have a problem with white men? Nope. See my avatar. I create white, male protagonists many times. You accused Majestic Jazz and Daveliam of the same thing!

2)Proves nothing. I have an interest in this topic. It is hardly all I care about!

3) I have an interest. It is hardly all I care about! This is not my only BSN account. I have many interests.

<"The marketing demographics for games are overwhelmingly male and overwhelmingly white, given that they are sold in the US, Canada, and Europe. Those are the biggest market, and yes, the demographic is overwhelmingly white. What this seems to boil down to is you saying "life's not fair!" I'll take the parent role and say "No, it's not." Again: Deal with it.  ">

I disagree emphatically with this. The market is changing whether you like it or see it as is the demographic, slowly but surely!

1) Do you have a problem with having a person of color featured as the default male protagonist for ME4?

2) I notice you come into threads about race, gender, and sexual orientation and attack -personally attack- the posters. Do they bother you that badly?

3) Do they bother you that badly?

1.) I don't. If they decide to go into a rant about how evil whites are and poor representation of people of color, like you seem to be doing, then I would. Because it's bad writing.

2.) I ridicule the notion that they care more about that than both sales (the goal of any company) and the actual content of their character. The hypocrisy is indeed very hilarious

3.) Does who bother me that badly? Does racism both me? Heterophobia? I'm not bothered, I just find it quaint that the supposed "evolved" creatures are nothing more than balls of hate simply pointed in another direction.

Wanting (not demanding or threatening to quit BioWare) a person of color to be featured as the default protagonist is not ranting whites are "evil", and honestly you made that up like you did against Daveliam right here:

http://forum.bioware...4#entry19237867

No one is attacking white heterosexual men.

This is becoming your trademark attack on anyone saying they would like to see more persons of color anywhere. Creating false accusations of racism is not going to shut me or anyone in this thread up.

You didn't call anyone one else out in this thread for saying whites=bland/boring...I noticed!

Wanting a female to be featured as the default protagonist is not ranting men are "evil" either.

You really like to make things up, don't you? As they say, if you have facts, pound the facts, if you have the law, pound the law. If you have neither, pound the judge. All I said was you care more about race than you do about character. It's a stain on your thinking, not mine. I also find your hypocrisy hilarious, you go out of your way to demonize me just because I don't worship the concept of race as important.

Also I said "Ranting about how evil whites are is bad writing." Not...whatever you said, it's so convoulted I can't even follow it. Why don't you try getting over your inherent biases and stick to telling the truth.

If there is an option to play as male or female in the game, it is a valid enough feature to be shown in marketing. Period.

ME:Next could showcase the CC like DA:I did.

Should the advertising also show off every skin shade available in the CC?

Had DAI done so? IIRC they showed a variety of skin tones, different sexes and some face presets.

Don't see why they couldn't. Bioware should keep it ambiguous on the cover and have male and female trailers (like with ME3) and gameplay trailers be shown with different PC's and a quick run through of the CC with characters of color shown.

If we know that males make up the majority of DA:I's gaming records, why should Bioware change anything marketing wise? The sales will still be good enough.

In the marketing? No they didn't. None of the marketing showed off the character creation at all. None of it even showed a non-human Inquisitor iirc.

Aren't twitch streams a part of marketing? Because I'm pretty sure I saw CC there.

I don't care about the cover, we're talking about the marketing campaign. The FemShep ME3 trailer was only online and none of the televised or printed Inquisition marketing that I ever saw showed off race or gender, let alone showed off the CC.

How did you know about the Twitch streams? Because you were already following the game. The marketing is not for you.

I knew because game news sites were all over it after the stream. I never caught any of the streams live.

ME:Next will most likely not have selectable races, so they could show off the CC with a human male and female and give a general idea on how deep the customization is. Different skin tones, complexions, hair, etc. They could add this in a gameplay trailer for marketing reasons.

That probably wouldn't happen in a trailer. But I could see that happening in one of those pre-release developer gameplay streams.

I know that since the ending of ME3, bioware is going to need to sale as many copies of ME:Next as possible. They need to make the game as appealing as they can. The story, the characters, the protagonist.

Also this.

But what if... Each trailer they show, has a different version of the protagonist? One has a black dude that is very sarcastic, the other a white woman very serious, then a really smart white dude, etc. Each one will obviously look different and be a different class. They would use different armor and weapons, etc.

I think some of you are drastically overestimating how many extra units they'd move by showing off the CC in trailers.

I wonder how many of the FemSheps were made by the "I don't want to stare at a dude's ass for 30 hours" or "lezz it up with Liara" male gamers.

Like I said somewhere earlier, they should focus exclusively on the female for trailers. And on the box. I want to see how it makes a big difference. I don't think it will, but I'm willing to be proven wrong. Lets see it boost the number of "FemProtagonist" playthroughs from 18% to 50%.

What I find funny about all of this is the manner of power people perceive in advertising.
