Both sexs have to have the same quantity of trailers and cgi movies. And neutral box art.

Female default hero should NOT be made with a lot of make up like female Shepard, shes a soldier after all.

Why not make them share it? either you make it so that the male is on the right side of the boxart and the female on the left side, or you can make it like the male is on the nackside of the box and the female on the front

that way both of them get marketed

Why not leave it ambiguous? There's no law that says they HAVE to show a full body shot of the protagonist on every piece of marketing material.

...

Actually, that sounds like exactly the kind of law they would have in Canada. But I stand by my previous statement.

That's why I think the box art for ME3 was on point. Just the N7. That's all you need and it tells everyone exactly what you're getting.

Why not futanari?

I actually like DA2 and all TOR covers... which reveal nothing about the main protagonists. I'd be happy if they show all companions kicking ass like ME2's squad litographs...

It wouldn't be the first time that was done, either. We had ambiguous covers with Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age: Origins, etc. Seemed to work for those titles, too.

I also like Silver Souls' idea:

That's what I wouldn't mind to see if we are to have iconic protagonists again, either.

I'd love this, personally.

You could have a cover with both the male and female protagonists. Alternatively you could just have a character wearing bulky armor and a helmet that makes their gender ambiguous.

Alternatively you could have a cover that features neither protagonist and either features just a landscape or a planet, maybe a shot of the Andromeda galaxy, etc.

Or you could go with the Doom 3 or killzone style and have the antagonist(s) on the cover.

I never understood why they didn't go the route of other RPGs, with just one symbol, or something related to the plot, like the reapers, aliens or whatever. I think that would make the game much more interesting at first glance. But I guess they wanted their "iconic character".

ME3 would have been cooler if harbinger was on the cover rather than shepard. More badass and it more accurately portrays the point of the game.

Except you never interact with Harbinger after ME2 and once you meet Star Child, Harbinger is rendered irrelevant.

Which is a shame really. Harbinger had the potential to be a pretty badass villain (like sovereign) but he's mostly absent from the game until the very last part, and even then doesn't do much. I think the game would have been better if harbinger was the AI that controlled all the reapers, and destroying him would "release control" over the rest of the reapers.

On a related note, I really wanted a normandy vs harbinger boss fight in space (where you get to pilot the normandy, obviously).

Harbinger's potential to be badass sort of died with ME2. When it told my Shepard that she was becoming an annoyance, it no longer seemed like a real threat.

I completely agree. The fact that he admits he's pissed off after you destroy the collector base and after you destroy the relay in the overlord DLC kind of ruined the whole "evil omnipotent being" for me.

Bioware botched ME2.  I didn't realize that Harbinger was a reaper until ME3.

PS - ME2 is still the best game of the 3.

This is NOT to start a gender war.  My question is, will they focus marketing on the male character or female character?  Personally, I think they should do something similar to ME3, and market both.

Perhaps having alternative box art (like ME3) having the option of having either male or female on cover by just flipping over the box art.

Just market a tranny and everyone is happy.

Why not futanari?

Ha! I would like the asari to be those personally especially the Ardat Yakshi....... Damn they should've revamped them to be succubus-like instead of sex crazed killers!!

Really? Even if you do Arrival before the suicide mission, you can see the reaper hologram with Harbinger's voice when it says its final words to the Collector General.

Well..most players are male...i m thinking if on my next playthrough i am able or not to play as a female Shepard to try to see if the game has differences by choosing another genre..

What i know i can t do, is romance a male character, female or not lol  :P

Yeah maybe they should go to both anyway.

I m just sad that, again no books about the main character allowed heh

At least in halo there are a lots of books about Master Chief.

Bioware will go with the male character. Heh, I think it is funny how Bioware is considered the progressive developer when it comes to social issues and yet they still feature male character's as their marketing strategy. I would like to see Bioware use a female or non-white male as the lead marketing character, but we all know that won't happen.

My first playthrough will be with a female however.

Why they shouldn t? males are 80 or 90% of the players...the majority of players choose male....So whats wrong with that? in marketing terms it seems a wise choice.

I m noticing that sometimes the minorities now a days are a bit imposed to the others just because its very..i don t know , fashionable maybe.
