I actually sort of think the decor is neat (especially the decor itself and the bed), but I can't think of any character I'd actually use it on.  The one stripe armor is okay, but again, it doesn't really seem to fit most characters- I can't really see any of the NPC's going for it save for maybe Iron Bull, and I don't like how it changes his shape up.

So, I'm probably not buying.  Yet, I say that about almost every cosmatic DLC ever, and usually end up grabbing them... sigh.  Why do I do that?

I'd say 'I'll wait for it to go on sale', but I don't think DAII/ME3's packs have really gone on sale yet, geez.  So that might be a long wait.

(Having said that, it's less then the coffee I usually get at Starbucks.  Not that I go to starbucks often, but... yeah.  I don't see the price point as a big deal.)

To me it's not so much the price compared to say, food, that's important. It's the price compared to other packs like this one they've released in the past. In that sense, this one doesn't seem to offer enough based on its price.

I agree 100% that these items should have been in the Hakkon dlc.

Now if it was "Spoils of the Imperium" or something that would have been a different story.

When did I even say that? What I will say though, is that I have seen people say the hair and Skyhold outfit are bad not only all over this forum, quite outside the hair threads, as well as all over the internet in general. I haven't seen a single person say the hair selection was good, or that they liked the Skyhold outfit. Sure, lots of people don't care either way, but it seems (keyword: seems) like most people want something. Besides, I surely think it would be more viable than Spoils of the Avvar, at least.

I agree

Or, I add pompously, one could also say, while there are plenty of people who have asked for hair and pj choices--as there are threads--no one ever made a thread saying "Oh, I know! Can we have more made-in-Paint avvar textures, please?"

That's a fair indication of where people's heads are at, even if it's not definitive. ;)

I think a Heroes of Dragon Age Pack would also be a cool idea. It can come with The Hero and Champion Armor and Weapon sets. Have some iconic weapons schematics our past heroes used like vigilance longsword and greatsword version, heartwood bow, Mantle of Champion, Hawke's Key all versions, Staff of Paralathan and maybe some unique Warden Armor inspired by the Hero of Fereldan etc. Just a cool throwback to our old protagonist.

I would buy this. i hope they wil do something like this. Along with story content hair and a few other things

CDPR would have released this for free.

No, but they would release Tevinter and Orlesian themed customization options for Skyhold as free DLC.

I like the Spoils of the Avaar dlc...any addition to my game is just more fun. Keep going Bioware..we will get there! I do agree some other hair and schematic dlc (race specific) would be more welcome. Mage roooobes! <3

It's probably worth nailing this one because it comes up repeatedly.

There's no such thing as a free lunch.

Are CDPR releasing 16 free DLCs because of fan love? No.

As I understand it, these 16 DLCs were all built pre-launch, so none of it is new content.

They are a way of 'encouraging' the thieves who rip off their stuff to not do so and actually buy the game.

Regardless of when these Avvar assets were created, it does seem to me to have been better to have built and included then in the Hakkon DLC,

adding them on as a pack does seem rather cheap.

But ok, it's BioWare's call and I'm not losing any sleep over it.

I'd be more enthusiastic about it if the Avvar look wasn't so muddy...

So CPDR does something that simultaneously benefits themselves and pleases the fans? Sounds like excellent public relations.

Of course, since Bioware/EA already excels at at public relations, and is so highly regarded in public opinion, I'm sure there's nothing they could learn here.

Seems to me, good PR is advertising a game with in-engine trailers that actually match the game that is released. DAI - check.

With no requirement for pseudo-DRM all the content ready for launch was in the game. DAI - check.

I recall the praise heaped on DAI at the time of Ubisoft's resolution parity decision for Unity. DAI - check.

Result - a critically & financially successful launch, relatively free of past controversies and multiple GOTYs. DAI - check.

Even when a pre-agreed temporary exclusive on Hakkon was announced for XB1, the other platforms had a launch date advised within a week. DAI - check.

Yep, I'd say BioWare/EA did a mightily fine launch, and while there's always something to learn, they set the bar high.

I remember reading that all of the free 16 dlcs for Witcher 3 were made pre-launch which means they could (or should) have been in the game. So the content was already made since it is cut content from the Witcher 3 right?

CDPR parceled it out to encourage thieves to buy the game.

After Jaws of Hakkon released on XBox One and PC, it was roughly a week later when Mark Darrah said the rest of us would get it in late May.

Was it really a week? It felt more like a few. But I don't know, time passes so slowly for me sometimes. Usually when I don't want it to. Anyway, I don't understand how they wouldn't have had a release date scheduled at the launch on Xbox One/PC. Surely that legally binding exclusivity agreement was specific (as they tend to be) - Specific enough that they would know exactly how long it was required to be exclusive for, and therefore when it could be released to other platforms.

I'm just glad we won't have to deal with that again. DA:I is having a rough DLC cycle even compared to ME3.

I don't think thieves matter that much. The content is likely to be pirated sooner or later.
It seems to be more about gamers not selling their copies too early, some good PR prior launch and some extra press post launch.

Do you have a source that says the 16 free dlc were made pre-launch? SnakeCode (I believe) posted a quote from one of TW threads from one of the developers who said otherwise.

http://www.gameinfor...-wild-hunt.aspx

If this article is to be believed Witcher 3 was set for a February 24 release. The next day the first two dlc were to be released. Since the release date was pushed back to May 19, but the next day May 20 the two free dlcs (the armor set for the horse and the Bread & Hairstyles) were released.

The question I posed was since the dlc was release the next day was this cut content from the game. The timing is the problem I have with it. The reason I believe it gets a pass is because it was released free.

I remember also this I'm sure that this was made pre-lunch as well....

Speaking of post-release presence I'm really impressed with CDPR's activity on their forums and how closely they listen to fans concerns.

Someone made a thread in the Tech Support section stating that they couldn't play the game because they couldn't see the red witcher vision visual clues due to being colour blind. The next patch rolled out less than a week later, with a colour blind friendly version you can toggle in the options. I thought that was really cool of them to do that.

from WH3 discussion Snakecode

regardless the 16 Dlc (not 16 yet) are free... so where is the problem?

I'd really like to know what's the reasoning behind such a pack.

The decor in skyhold doesn't add anything to the game. It doesn't change the opinion of random people in skyhold about the inquisition (I thought Orlesians were judging snakes?), it doesn't change their dialogue, it doesn't change approval or anything like that. There is also no reason to go back to your bedroom; the inquisitor is there mostly because of cutscenes with their lovers. The decor ist just... There.

People didn't ask for more of that, yet they decided to spent their resources on such content.

Mounts don't add anything either. Your hart isn't faster than your horse, your horse doesn't have more stamina than your dracolisk... Now we get a pack with retextures... Which don't add anything either.

The armor in this DLC is basically warpaint/mud on body (it also alters everybody's bodytype, which I find pretty weird actually), the other option looks somehow decent on females, the male version reminds me of a potato sack though.

You know, I won't even continue to complain about those two armors. I wouldn't even care about them, if they were two armos out of - let's say - ten. Thats what's so baffling to me. Everybody is whining about armors and they add just two armors? For 6 bucks?

I just don't... Understand? What's their reasoning behind this? Money? If this was a DLC pack with 10 new armors and weapons, they'd make so much more money. That is a big complaint from the community after all: the lack of good-looking, varying armor choices. They could make them inquisitor-only too, if it's too much of an effort to make them for every companion.

I could buy a whole new game for 6 bucks on steam (I'm actually going to do just that). The people in charge should really start to re-evaluate the actual profit and the quality they make.

I mean wowzers, this is a tad bit embarassing in comparison to other companies.
