Well, I just ran into something weird.  My new video card is installed, so I decided to fire back up my game.  I got to the Undercroft and went to special shipments.  I got the next tier of "Of the Dragon" stuff, but no Avvar spoils.  I loaded an older game, one that I had made right before I left Haven.  I checked the special shipments there, since I know that it can spawn there.  Nothing.  I tried zoning in and out of the Undercroft, going to TBE and back, and tried exited/restarting the game.  Do I have to do the main DLC in order to use the spoils or something?  It's installed, I just looked.

I just don't... Understand? What's their reasoning behind this? Money? If this was a DLC pack with 10 new armors and weapons, they'd make so much more money.

Better yet, if they wanted more money, instead of reusing these armour assets and selling us the ability to equip them, why not take some of the countless other variants in the game you can't wear, and sell them in the same pack? That would appear to be a lot of armours, even if it wouldn't take them much effort. I also think they would make more money with a hair/Skyhold outfit pack than this one.

 

So basically, if they're trying to generate goodwill, they're failing, and if they're trying to make money... they're still failing! Badly. I really don't get their marketing. From what they choose to sell, how much they sell it for, and choosing to only advertise things just before release, it's a terrible strategy.

It's not linked to Jaws of Hakkon for delivery - I picked them both up last week and haven't even started Jaws yet. They were in the chest in Haven with the dragon items when I started a new Inquisitor, and popped up in undercroft for the one I'm halfway through, and I haven't even read the wartable mission for Hakkon yet so there's definitely no link.

 

Maybe try a repair?

Hmm, I'll probably end up doing that and doing a full rescan of my patch when for I put back a couple of mods.  My video card crashed and died about 2 weeks back.  It had been acting up for awhile before that.  When it did give up the ghost, I was playing DA:I.  I was coming back from the not-Fade with Morrigan through the eluvian, and my vid card died during the loading screen.  I have a feeling something had gone sideways as a result, so I'll make sure to repair the game before I play next.  I've got a really nice new vid card, so I'll bet set and ready to go.

Having them linked to the quest would have been a nice touch on the immersion front actually, now you've mentioned it - though I suppose they're getting enough lashback for not including them in Jaws as is and it might get complicated for people who only have Spoils. Still, on an rp front it would have been much more satisfying. Ah well.

 

(Out of curiosity, which graphics card did you get? I'm currently in the final phase of picking what to put into a new gaming rig i'm getting late next month and decisions are hard.)

I ended up picking up the EVGA GTX 970.  My game loads up much faster and it runs a lot quieter than my Radeon Sapphire R9 290.  A lot of forum posters recommended it to me, and it had good ratings on tomshardware as well.  It cost about $330 (US) or so.  It's great for the price.  I found if I tried to go up from there, I was looking at $500+ for a new card.  My Sapphire was solid, but so far I'm liking this better.

The devs recently stated that they are not done with story DLC and said something to the affect of, "We've heard your requests, especially for one particular character."  I know that Solas has been a big request and some sort of wrap-up like the Witch Hunt has also been requested as well.  I think we'll see something related to the Dread Wolf before we know it.  Also, I wouldn't be 100% surprised if one of the DLCs involved us going to Weisshaupt.  Either Hawke or Alistair/Loghain/Stroud disappeared there, so we'll likely be heading that way.  My guess is that we've got two, maybe 3 or 4 DLCs left before DA:I's story is considered completely done.

The statement about another story DLC came about 3 weeks ago.  I'd suggest lurking in the DA twitter thread.  That's where you'll hear about this stuff.  Sadly, and unfortunately, they will talk about this a lot more on twitter than they will on the forums or on their blog.

Really have to agree. I have him and my f!dwarf (who is romancing him), in a lovely His-n-Her set of mud stripes.

Really like that armor (okay...let's call a spade, a spade...."mud" ) on M!elves as well. They actually look somewhat "beefy" for a change. *thumbsup!*

@Natashina - sorry for the side track, and hope your DLC issues get resolved soon, but I was curious about the GTX970 that you bought. Was it the FTW ACX2.0 4GB, or the SSC ACX2.0 4GB? If you don't mind answering. You are welcome to place in spoilers or PM me, if you don't wish to derail the thread.

Selling hats, pets and outfits is hardly a new idea, and I'm fine with that. Some people want to pay for such things, ok.

 

The only thing I do not understand is the marketing part. I mean, I'm a frequent forum visitor, I follow the 'news' section and I'm subscribed to the BW blog. I've never heard about the DLC, and I only found out while randomly browsing the Origin store. One would think that it's a good idea to (at least) inform the core player base about the new content, no?

The same thing happened to me with Jaws of Hakkon, well, kinda. I got a tweet about an announcement for a DAI DLC and next thing you know the DLC was releasing the very same day! That was a bit odd.

 I think it's because BW knew this is not exactly what everyone was expecting from dlc. Big announcement few weeks before release would ****** off the majority of fans, because JoH is just another area to explore, while most people are waiting for story-driven dlc. (Sure, there's some story content behind JoH, but it isn't enough)

probably wont buy it, I made a bad habit buying these armor packs in DA2, never again, unless they actually look cool, a demonic sword which augments your power after every hit, a staff capable of casting firestorm at 30% chance, or unique daggers with a high critical chance, those are things I would buy

 

armor choices, dark knight plate for warriors, cool armor with a hood for rogues etc etc.

I like the mud armor idea, though I'd love to add some armor to the arms and maybe the legs... ah well my DW Inquisitor is currently rocking the Skirmisher Helmet, Avvar Armor and Barbarian Rock Crusher daggers.

This item pack should have been included with Jaws of Hakkon.  Other then that it looks interesting if not over priced.  I'll consider getting it eventually.  Cause Dragon Age gotta buy it all OCD may eventually require it of me.   I have a problem.

How viable is the schematic mid/late game
