Spoils of the Avvar DLC

I did purchase all ME customization DLCs, but I doubt I am going to get this (unless hugely discounted). Other than not being huge fan of Avvar, I find the ammount of content already in the game too high to pay for more.

I don't have a problem with item packs I bought the two for DAII when they were released.I liked the armors and weapons , and use them quite a bit , every companions got two custom jewelry /belt thing , so I didn't have to bother with loots , also you had some weapons leveling up with your characters.
And you got some new codex.
Now the Avaar stuff?
From the picture I'm seeing recolour of the vanilla game mounts , I don't care for mounts and this doesn't help.
The armors are from the Jaws of Hakkon DLC , the only change is now there's a model for Qunari , Elf , dwarf bodies.
Still , errr...the mud armor? The Hakkonites had mud on their faces too , now it looks weird with the clean face...and I can't imagine companions wearing that...well maybe Iron Bull.
I'm not interested in wearing that as an Inquisitor .Even the leather armor isn't all that thrilling.
The Skyhold decor might be new , the bed looked different from the one in JOH but it's like the horses , I don't really care about decor ..
Anyway my point is ....I'm disappointed .
I really can't justify buying this , there's just nothing I can imagine using ...
There's the Steam summer sale on the horizon and with five euros , I could probably get a new game .

I don't understand whats so bad about $5... that's about the same as most meals at a fastfood place. and it's all extra/unnecessary stuff too...

The actual content of this was worked on quite a bit after JoH was finalized, yes some of the meshes and alike was used from the JoH but doesnt mean it was cut.
Source: I was QA on both products
Ahaha wait Bioware actually does QA on their products? Considering the way this industry is going you'll be out of a job pretty soon.
As for this "DLC", its the standard milking business practice that EA has been getting away with for years now.

It's not the worst thing ever - at the least, it's up front about what it is so people can easily choose not to buy it if they don't think it represents value.
But an equivalent item packin DA2 had 6 sets of armour + 6 weapons. You can make some allowance for the need to make the armour fit all races in DAI, but the DA2 armour mostly wasn't rehashed NPC armour, and had separate boots/gloves
So really this item pack's price only makes sense if you're keen on having new skyhold decor. Which doesn't seem the general attitude.

Got it and I was a tad disappointed. It's not that expensive and before getting it I was a bit baffled about the backlash it was getting, didn't bother reading which was obviously a mistake on my part - now that I have, I have to agree with some of it.
The fact that the Avvar Armor totally changes Iron Bulls body type seems a bit lazy to me as someone previously mentioned. I mean, it's mostly warpaint and I think it's a bit unrealistic that it shrinks him so much - must be hell of a paint to strap in that torso so tightly ![]()
Some of the tinting you can make on that armor/s are sort of cool, but it's not an armor I'll be using on anyone if not on Vivienne just so I could put her in something she so obviously would never even dream of wearing. Short-lived joy though, since I never use her in my team...
I would've been happy if the Avvar Armour was also available as it's seen on the people in Stone-Bear Hold; the female stone Bear Armour essentially is, but the male one just looks like a potato sack, no idea how it looks on an elf but I'm assuming the same applies. I'm all up for more realistic armours that would actually be able to protect you but the midriff part just seems a bit excessive. And there is nothing wrong in a bit of fan service - some could say the female Avvar Armor essentially is but yeah, it's a bit meh...
The mounts are okay I guess though I'll be sticking to the Pride of Arlathan.
It's nice to get new content, especially as the Avvar Armor while with it's flaws is quite different to other type of armors that exist, but for me while the cost wasn't much, it was still more than I would have paid for this content especially since I wont be using any of it. For the price they ask they could've thrown in an extra-armor, be it the Stone-Bear hold version of the male Avvar Armor or something else.
Just hoping the money they get from this goes into making a dlc/add on with substance I'll enjoy.

For 5 dollars? No thanks. That's a shirt for my kid right there. Also if the one armour is supposed to be warpaint why is there still obvious mesh beneath it? That's just lazy right there.
I do love the windows and if it goes on sale for what it's worth, like 2 dollars or 99 cents I'll grab it. For mounts just slathered in black and white stripes (Quickest recolour job ever yo.) One armour ripped from JOH (regardless of what the QA guy says I'm guessing this was ripped from that nearly complete just as I feel that DLC was ripped from the main game just to make more money.) and one armour that takes a default armour mesh and paints over it to make it look like body paint.....no thanks.
So far, ironically, the free DLCs have been much better than the priced ones for DA:I. JOH was...disappointing to say the least. Story DLC please...and if you're going to do cosmetic stuff, do racial themed packs (But make them available to every race). Each pack would have one light, one medium, and one heavy armour themed for the race it represents along with schematics for it, one of each weapon type (daggers, sword/handaxe/mace, Greatsword/hammer/axe, Staff (it could be a golem control rod that Dagna enchants for dwarves), bow, etc.) and maybe a tiny quest to get it. Sell them for 4.99 a pop and viola! Or a hairpack, heaven knows most of us would buy that **** instantly. Dragon's Dogma did hairpacks and they went over very well. Or find a day to negotiate permission to release a CK, I'd pay for that honestly.
In short, DLCs I WANT to see and would pay for:
-Story content that isn't endless damn quests and includes actual character interaction.
-A hair pack.
-Racially themed armour and weapon packs.
-A creation kit. Honestly for the chance to create mods for others (as I've done for other games) I'd pay 15 bucks easy and I know a lot of other modders would too.
Think about it, allowing modders to do their thing not only takes pressure off of you to make the game better (because they do that for you. Hence why Bethesda releases half-finished games and doesn't get too much flack because the modders fix that **** within a month after release) it also greatly enhances replay value (Mods are one of the reasons I still play DAO easily as often as I play DAI, skyrim, fallout, etc.) and makes your games have a lasting effect and audience. Oblivion came out in 2004 (I think?) 11 years ago. I JUST bought it less than a year ago because I saw how moddable it was and I know many others who do the same. Other games that can still make their companies money because people will still pay because of mods include Neverwinter Nights 1/2, Morrowind, Fallout 1-3+NV, Skyrim of course, hell the freakin' sims 1-3 (4 is still new so yeah) etc.
Releasing a creation kit allows you to profit for years to come long after you've done any work on the game.

Ah, another enlightened soul who knows better than anyone how people should spend their own money.
Was the DLC worth $5? No, probably not, but that doesn't mean the price is unfair. The DA2 item packs were $5 each, and they included full sets of armor (chest, gloves, boots, and helmets) for each class, full sets of weapons for each class, *and* an abundance of accessories. But DA2 only had human protagonists, so no need to adapt human meshes to work with elves, dwarves, and qunari, so I suppose they were probably about as much work to make. Real life contains lots of examples of things where the work necessary to produce them costs more than they're worth. People may spend $30K to remodel their home only to find that the real estate assessment is only $10K higher than it was before the renovation. But people still renovate their houses.
At this point, I think their refusal to do more hairstyles or Skyhold outfits has more to do with stubbornness than anything else. I wouldn't expect to see either... which is a shame, because they'd be enormously successful.

I don't normally grumble about item packs any more because I'm on the losing side of that war. They're still a popular form of DLC in gaming and aren't going away any time soon. Meh. I just don't usually buy them and that's that.
But this one has caused some eye twitching. I feel like, for the price of JoH that it really should have been included. I did enjoy that DLC but the price seemed a bit much for what it was. I was actually hoping to leave it with some nice new weapons and armour but didn't find anything better than what I'd already crafted. So yeah, this does feel like a bit of a kick in the teeth.
Bah.
I almost never use the mounts anyway so I'm really just grumbling over armour here.
...what is my life.

So it's like the item packs from DAII? But with mounts and a theme.
They're really into the Avvar right now I guess.
They probably have some big plans for them IMO.

Apparently.
I really like the Avvar Theme.
Me too!
Looks nice.
Yes it does.
I had always been curious about the proposed barbarian origin that was in the mix for DA:O, but which was apparently axed during the games early development. There had also been a human commoner origin suggested that didn't make the grade. Alas! The best part of Jaws of Hakkon was finally seeing the Avvar to give me a glimpse of what might have been. I missed seeing this in the store yesterday, but I added it from work and can't wait to see what elements comprise this dlc when I get home later today?

Looks like a new DLC item pack has appeared on Xbox Live for Inquisition priced at £3.99
https://store.xbox.c...76-01ceba9ed8f7
- Description: The Spoils of the Avvar content pack adds new personalization elements to your Inquisition, including the Avvar Mount Pack, which contains five different beasts to ride across Thedas. Charge into battle atop a war-painted mount! Bring the unfettered spirit of the Avvar to Skyhold with several options to customize your base. The Spoils of the Avvar content pack also includes two sets of unique armor as loot and schematics to give your party the advantage against your foes.
BioWare post on it http://www.dragonage...ls-of-the-avvar
That's it?? I think I'll pass on this DLC.

Seriously BioWare. *rolls eyes*
Do you take us for morons?
Sorry if I'm sounding harsh, I've been a fan of Inquisition, but this is ridiculous in my opinion. This DLC should had been included with Jaws of Hakkon to begin with. I'll skip for now. So disappointed.
Edit: Read the comment posted by the QA and I still feel like this should had been in the JoH DLC to begin with or at least bundled with.
Within the last several days multiple sources are running comments that additional story-based content for the main game is being rapidly prepped for release. Giving the devs at Bioware the benefit of the doubt that they will come through isn't too much to ask, and like it or not, this is a business. Even with the awards and sales for Inquisition EA Games may expect some item sales to offset costs of creating additional content for a game that has already shipped. Who knows?
I'm not offended by something like Spoils of the Avvar (I've already downloaded while at work today), but griping about the reasons behind this dlc's existence doesn't help. If you don't want it and consider it a price gouge, by all means give it a pass.
There was never gonna be a way for Bioware to compete with CDPR's sixteen free dlc content packs once that Witcher 3 giveaway was made public.

The price is not the problem. Is the content. If instead of armour already seen and not for everyone taste, and simple recolor of the mounts, it was some new hairstyles and skyhold outfit, I would have buyed in an instant the DLC.
