It's occurred to me that there is no guide to general weapon specs, like for example how not to use piercing mods on projectile weapons. They don't have to be kit dependent, but if they are, you should state so. A lot of suggestions may seem obvious to experienced players, but newer players might not know the best ways to use mods on their weapons (I know I struggled). I'll try to keep up with editing this OP with good suggestions when I can be bothered to and I'll also offer some setups myself when I'm in front of ME3, so I know what the mods are actually called!  :lol:

 

I'll list setups by weapons class, then by individual weapons. Each individual weapon will have one or numerous specs and say whether the spec is tied to one kit or one style of play (melee for example) or just for general usage. I'll also note if there is an ideal ammo type to use with said spec. Let me know what you think.  ;)

 

This could actually mean that there's something useful on this subforum and it'll give me something to do other than trolling while on here!  :lol:

 

Sniper Rifles

Assault Rifles

 

N7 Typhoon

  • Mods: Assault Rifle Extended barrel, Assault Rifle Magazine upgrade. Ammo: AP/Drill rounds
  • Mods: Assault Rifle High Velocity Barrel, Assault Rifle Magazine upgrade. Ammo: Any

Particle Rifle

  • Mods: Assault Rifle High Velocity Barrel, Assault Rifle Magazine upgrade. Ammo: Any, though preferably Incendiary.

Submachine Guns

 

N7 Hurricane

  • Mods: SMG High Velocity Barrel, SMG Recoil System Ammo: Any Notes: Preferably on kits lacking stability bonuses and/or abilities.
  • Mods: SMG High Velocity Barrel, SMG Power Magnifier Ammo: Warp Rounds Notes: For biotic kits that use power damage.
  • Mods: SMG High Caliber Barrel, SMG Power Magnifier Ammo: AP or Drill Rounds Notes: For Tech kits that use power damage.
  • Mods: SMG Magazine Upgrade, SMG High Velocity Barrel Ammo: Any Notes: For weapons focused kits with stability bonuses and/or powers that improve stability.

Shotguns

 

Venom Shotgun

  • Mods: Shotgun Spare Thermal Clip, Shotgun High-Velocity Barrel. Ammo: Incendiary
  • Mods: Shotgun Omni-blade, Shotgun High-Velocity Barrel. Ammo: Incendiary or disruptor Notes: For melee builds.

Heavy Pistols

A few mods that don't work on certain guns...

 

Penetration mods are useless on these guns:
Adas Anti-Synthetic Rifle 
M-37 Falcon.
Striker Assault Rifle.
Acolyte.
Scorpion.
Geth Plasma Shotgun.
Graal Spike Thrower.
Venom Shotgun.
Kishock Harpoon Gun.
Krysae Sniper Rifle.

Sniper Rifle Spare Thermal Clip mod is useless on the Collector Sniper Rifle.

SMG Heat Sink mod is useless on the Collector SMG.

Shotgun Smart Choke is useless on the Venom Shotgun and the N7 Crusader.

Particle Rifle has zero recoil, so gains nothing from Assault Rifle Stability Damper.

Javelin already has an x-ray scope, so gains nothing from scope upgrades.

And I wouldn't expect a Pistol Cranial Trauma System to do much on an Acolyte or Scorpion either.

The GPS does not benefit from the HVB, Shredder Mod, or Smart Choke

Tbh, I completely forgot about this thread.  :lol: I actually have some spare time, so I'll do a few more obvious ones now.  ^_^

 

Edit: As you can see, I filled a couple out. I would ideally like to keep it in that format if you would like to help, but I'm open to suggestions. It takes a while and I want to fill EVERY weapon with suggestions, ideally with suboptimal as well as optimal specs for those who might have new manifests (using the shotgun blade attachment instead of the Omniblade for example) and I'll note them as such. It's ambitious and it's something I can't do alone because 1) I usually have things to do and 2) I'm too lazy... :whistle:  But I'll paste good ideas and reformat them if need be, as well as fill in a few myself from time to time.

Claymore

  • Mods: smart choke, high velocity barrel. Ammo: any other ammo.
