Title speaks for itself.

I should not have to explain why this is a good idea and why almost every RPG I've played has always had this option.

There has to be a way to make this happen. I don't care that this damn game was made for console first and PC second. Make it happen please.

EDIT: Also, give us a thumbnail of our save file.

I would appreciate that as well. There are certain save points for some of my later characters that are just before cutscenes, some of which I'd like to return to to take screenshots. It's a bit of a slog trying to remember which Skyhold # corresponds with which time period in the game.

No doubt.  I would have loved be to able to name my own saves.

Also, I have to wonder what's up with the lack of organization.  I decided to take some screenshots last month to show others this clusterball, since I knew that a thread regarding save files was going to come up.

Here's a screenshot of my saves folder for DA2.  They are all within separate character folders:

Spoiler

See that?  Nice and neat.  The game creates those folders automatically, as it should be.  Oh and most of those save games were named by me.  It was an easy way to keep track of what area I was in.

Now here's my save folder for DAI:

Spoiler

What a freaking mess.  No way to name save files, and there is no organization.  This is the first PC RPG that I've ever played that lacked something as basic as separate folders for save files sorted by character.

Edit: The only way to be able to tell which character is which for DA:I in the save folder, other than by date/time, is to look at the 6 digit code on the end of save file itself.  For instance, Rowan (whom I had just started at the time) is C84A70.

Agreed. Enthusiastically agreed. This save system is messy.

I don't agree with the claim that's been floating around that BioWare lied about DA:I in their marketing.  Then again, I am cynical enough to where I always expect advertising to be selective about the truth.  I do think that the PC testing was largely an afterthought though for this game.  It's a feeling that I've had since the game came out, and despite how much I truly love Inquisition, that feeling is now almost a certainty for me.

The controls don't feel like they were tested very well for M/KB.  I think they mainly used a gamepad, because the setup is otherwise not very comfortable.  I'm thankful that I have a gaming mouse.  The UI is alright, but terrible for any fight that might require strategy.  Then we have the save system for the PC.  You know, I have some ancient saves from NWN backed up on one of my drives.  Ancient in this case going back to 2004, so 11 years.  I know which character is which, because of the basic system of creating character folders for different files.

After some digging, I found some old saves from BG2.  Sure enough, everything was organized by character name.  That was from a game released in 1999.  I mean, what in the name of Odin's left eye is going on with DA:I, a game that came out 15 years later?  The only reason why I can think of for this and some other PC issues was that testing for the personal computer was not high on the priority list.  I'm not going to get aggro at my console friends for it either.   That was on the programmers.

Also, I really want thumbnails of our save files in-game, like before back in DA:O and DA2?

Yes, PLEASE. It baffles me why this isn't an option now. I have so many saves across each character and 90% of them are in Skyhold so shifting through them when I want to get back to a specific scene is a pain!

That alone would suffice for me; whichever is easier to do.

It says a lot about the quality of BW cutscenes that people keep saves for them to re-watch, and while the saves take far less time to load for me now, it's a bit inconvenient to sift through half a dozen saves.

We should also get to choose the savefile directory.

I would totally love this as well. Right now the only way for me to locate a specific save is to load it up in DA:I, re-save it, and see which one comes to the top in the save folder.

I wonder if it's something to do with frostbite itself?

If we can't get save naming at least character folders would be nice

-snip-

console people have it worse though. They've got a limit on the save files.

I think we do too actually, though not as bad. Isn't the PC still capped at 250, or was that removed?

This would be awesome.  I get sidetracked and sometimes forget where I left of and it was a handy memo.  It's a drag, but I can see why it's easier, with limited memory for saves, it might be easier to have a set list than a customizeable one.  If they manage to find a way to work it in sometime it would be a really cool thing to have, but for me, at least, it's not a high priority problem if I find I'm covering the same ground twice (as opposed to having to see if Inq needs to jump and unstick, for instance.)  If there's an Inq and timestamp to remember, I write it on masking tape and stick it to my keyboard instead.  I don't run a whole lot of PCs at a time though...that might make more of a problem.  A notebook?

There is a 250 cap...I've hit it numerous times...

yeppers!

I think it would be a very nice thing, but this is a rehash.

I have seen it before, I doubt anything will ever be done about it. It would really help though, when you have an special save point.

Heck I have never been able to finish the game anyway. I always just get to bored. I am trying again, but have sort of lost interest again. Right after wicked heart's, I just seem to totally lose desire to continue.

So I guess being able to make special saves could maybe help a little, as I could actually know where in the game I was if I named it something I actually could understand.

It gets confusing when I make a save, and think better make another encase I want to go back. but then I am never sure which one that was. I even tried to drag the save out to another folder, but sometimes I grabbed the wrong save. :(

So is really dumb on a Computer not to be able to name your saves.
