That's why I'm looking forward t DA4 in Tevinter; I'm tired of White-centric cultures. Vints are more Romanesque (in style) and, if the look like Dorian, Middle Eastern.
Also, PoC is shorthand for "People of Color" aka not white, which my Inqy totally falls under.
I do hope to see more racial variety among humans, elves, and dwarves in future DA games.
I'd like more of a mix- traveling to different lands but not just doing away with the southern lands we've already seen- so new players can get the feel of an even broader range of Thedas nationalities- at least for human society which is always the dominant population in the DA experience. Of course, one nationality (qunari) is gray (though the CC would indicate otherwise), so there's another PoC. haha I did know the PoC abbreviation, but it's just one of those somewhat ambiguous terms otherwise. Asians may be called "yellow" (though that color is derogatory) but they're usually about the same complexion as "whites." So are they "non-white?" Supposedly. And "whites" can be pink, peach, tan- which are all colors (and in the CC palette)- not exactly People Without Colour. And blacks are brown. Then there are Indians who have the same skin color as "blacks," so are they black? Then you have mixed folk between black and white who get called "light-skinned black" when they're actually white... and black. Humans do make much of their distinctions despite the fact that we're obviously all the same species. Given that there are half-elves in DA, by the evolutionary order humans and elves are the same species as well. XD
Anyway the DA devs seem to delve right into diversity in their game setting- right away in DAO adding sexuality diversity and sex equality and deepening that to more "racial" diversity in DAI. And they maintain a standard of maturity and sensibility in presenting it, so I could totally see them creating credible, interesting PoC nations to get immersed in for DA4. It's just that they've got nations that are more or less Arabic, Latino, or Mediterranean, but none yet that explain African people, so it'd be great to get a new land for that. And it's not as if they've exhausted Thedas. We only know one or two continents on the planet atm, and there's still those "across the sea" people who like to leave X's on Inquisition tents who might be from a predominantly PoC land...
