SPOILERS where it matters in 2015 :P

HI, I'm doing a third and fourth runthrough of ME 1 on Hardcore/Insanity, with an Engineer & Adept, and I was curious if there were any sort of game breaking / damaging effects that could come of the course I'm planning.

On the first time playing through the game, for the main missions, I went Therum (1st) for Liara, Noveria (2nd) for Opold & to give myself time on bumping Persuade for Jeong on Feros (3rd).  Now, from a strategizing standpoint based on character building and combat difficulty, that worked great ... however it didn't make as much sense from a story point of view to my mind.  By the end of Noveria you learn all you really can about Matriarch Benezia and Indoctrination by this stage of the game, meaning prior to Virmire.  That means that the information gained from Shiala is all redundant and feels like it was meant to be learned prior to your confrontation with Matriarch Benezia.  So, okay, no issue there, right?  Just go Therum -> Feros -> Noveria ...  But that doesn't work as well for me, because I REALLY want the particular item options and licenses available from Opold on Noveria.  The solution there is to just go Therum for Liara, followed by Noveria / Port Hanshan in brief, to make purchases with Opold and possibly complete what missions / assignments are local to Port Hanshan without leaving for  Peak  15.  From there, head to Feros for the Thorian & Shiala, after which I will return to Noveria to complete all Missions & Assignements I hadn't fully resolved earlier.

The only concern is, what if any impact this will have on the game play or plot, even?  I understand that by entering or interacting with certain character / subsets areas, I will lock in the level / difficulty of enemies (possibly even if they haven't spawned, but are there any other negative effects that could come of this?  A better question might also be, "Has anyone else taken this order of events and had problems?"

Where it matters, I have all the achievements except for a few of the Allied achievements.  Full XP bonuses, Spectre weapons unlocked, level 60 cap unlocked, etc.

It has no effect on the plot. The plot does not change at all if you go into Feros/Noveria, go away, and then come back.

I sometimes go: Therum > Feros hub + skyway only > other missions (including Noveria and Virmire) > back to Feros.

I am not entirely sure if enemy difficulty is capped or not, but I have noticed that item/loot level drops will lock. For example, if I land on Feros around level 15-18 or so, I will be getting level III-IV item drops. If I leave and then come back when I am level 50+ (level IX-X item drops), I will still get level III-IV item drops on Feros.

@RedCaesar97 & themikefest: Thanks for your responses, I'm sorry I didn't reply earlier.    RL managed to grab me by the guts on a few things and the 2 - 5 minutes it would have taken to log in and say as such apparently stretched my non existent multi-tasking skills past their breaking point

Now I just need to figure out 1 or 2 other good names for a Male Shepard beyond Alan & Max.  It's always really weird how this name or that name may suit one persons creative need or prediliction while it runs up against another's bias.

Shiala's information is not redundant.  Here is the information that you get from plot worlds:

Eden Prime: damaged beacon - incomplete prothean message, that is also not entirely decipherable by a human

Therum: Liara - prothean "expert," but cannot interpret the message on her own.

Noveria: Location of Mu Relay.  Does not tell you what the destination is from the relay "The Mu Relay could link to dozens of systems."

Virmire: Complete prothean message from intact beacon.  Cannot understand the message without...

Feros; prothean Cipher

***

Anyway, I usually do the order you mentioned as well because it makes sense from a metagaming perspective.  From information Shepard knows, any of the three first mentioned plot worlds are valid choices, which is why Udina and Anderson leave it up to Shepard.  I actually think they did a pretty good job of making this game appear relatively non-linear.

The side missions are where you will feel the most underleveled if that is what you want to get out of the game.  Try to do most of the available ones before the first plot world.

No, I agree with all of that, I'm more referring to the information as relates to the first contact experiences with Indoctrination.  Within the metagaming perspective, as you mentioned, Matriarch Benezia is kind of the capstone to the reconnaisance missions for tracking down Saren and assembling the blue print of his plan in full.  WHICH obviously makes sense because she is the chief flunky / implement of Saren that is subject to the Reaper's effect.  It makes more sense to me to get information from Shiala first that provides better intel on the asari under the Matriarch and what's been happening since they came into Saren's circle.  (Within the metagaming assumption you would know which of the three worlds to go to to get 'X' information, natch).

Also, separate item, @capn233: LOVE your ME1 guides for building Engineers, Adepts, & Soldiers from the ground up but I was curious if you've ever yourself bothered to get the requisite Intimidate / Persuade skill necessary to counter Admiral Mikhailovich's complaints in 'Snap Inspection,' on your first return to the Citadel?  The only way I was able to do so was by going straight to Noveria and completing the Port Hanshan missions & assignments.  Definitely one of those quests where I wonder if you really are just supposed to invoke Spectre authority pretty much all the time and tell him to ****** off.

I usually always do Noveria 3rd. I sometimes do Liara first and sometimes Feros first that changes from playthrough to playthrough but I don't tend to do Noveria till I've done both. In the playthrough I'm on atm I did Feros and I've just picked Liara up from Therum so in reality I've just got Noveria to worry about but I'm going to go and do some side stuff before doing that.
