So I am not sure if this has already been posted as a suggestion, as this is my first time on this forum, so forgive me if it is!

But I wanted to suggest the option to romance Varric in the new DLC they are talking about releasing.
A friend of mine is really wanting to, and we had the discussion as to how we didn't get why it isn't already an option. I mean the "love interest" people speak of, is already married and his crossbow doesn't count, haha.

Personally I am a Dorian or Blackwall girl.

You don't understand their love.

Oh I feel their love emanating every single time he speaks of it, haha.
Still think a romance option should be there!

I thought it was a crime that we couldn't romance him in DAI, considering that we're haven't had a single dwarf romance ever.

Spoiler

Obviously, Harding is the only solution.

In light of Nat's post below, I decided to add spoiler tags.

I take it you haven't done Varric's personal quest yet?  I'm not talking about the headcount quest where you smash a bunch of red lyrium.  It'll be the next quest you get from him, titled "Well..Sh*t."  You should do that and then come back.  It explains a lot and it's more than just the crossbow.  I used to be a Varricmancer, but I had to let that go completely after that.

I think s/he does cause s/he mentioned "love intrest" that is already married so I think this is request despite Bianca. Personally I would have gladly snatched Varric away too  Though I doubt Bioware will this point make Varric romanceable, they would have done it for DAI if they planned to do so.

I just kinda felt bad for him. This game was not kind to Varric.

Yeah, same here.  I also think that this is Varric's last hurrah.  I'm pretty sure that he's going home once the DLC are finished for this game.

Allan once mentioned in a thread about...a year ago or so that office scuttlebutt says that Mary Kirby (Varric's author) doesn't like writing romances for her character.  He said to take it with a grain of salt, because Allan doesn't work in that department.  However, after he said that, I looked up Ms. Kirby's character history and noted that not a single one had been a romance.

So try to keep that in mind.  Mary Kirby character = very unlikely to be a LI.

Then you've picked up on how whipped (probably not the right word to use but its the only one I can think of) he is yes? I'm a former Varricmancer myself but the guy is never letting go of Bianca any time soon poor fool is wrapped around her little finger and I suspect there is no changing it.

oh yeah, he is pretty bad........but I think they should have him move on from her, you know? Give him a shot at some happiness.

I didn't really like her character, I was none to kind in any comments to her.

But you never know! they might just give the Varric fans some romance with him. :) *hint hint*

I do agree that the game was a little harsh on him.

I'm not sure whipped is the right concept. The subtext of their relationship is that Varric is the architect of a lot of his misfortune. Bianca did seem to want to run away with him, more or less. He's the one who seems to be keeping the peace with everyone by not eloping, but at the same time isn't really letting go of Bianca, and she's basically torturing him by not just removing herself from his life (though my wager is that, in her mind, she's still in love with him and trying to get him to drop everything to elope with her).

It can't be spoiled, I have done all of his quest lines and read every single thing. :)

Well Bioware, I have put it out there! please consider a romance with Varric.  No one would suspect it! haha give the guy some happiness.

That's quite intresting.. and possible valuable information for next DAI :P

I know whipped wasn't really the correct word it was just the only one I could think of at the moment when making the comment.

Though I really don't care for Bianca at all (they tried way to hard to make me like her and it didn't work out imo) so I'm sure that any kind of interpenetration I have on their relationship is rather bias from my dislike of the character, and I'll shush for I end up saying poor things about her due to lack of sleep on my end ^^;

I need to mention poor Hawke too.  I don't feel that Hawke contributing to all of this is a secret at this point.

Have you guys seen Hawke's tarot card?  It's kinda sad.  A great hawk being driven to the ground by the weight of Kirkwall on it's back. If you look at the claws, that isn't a bird going for it's prey.  It's one being grounded against it's will.

It's even got the city map for that little touch:

I used the word "concept" because I think the connotation you're trying to get at with whipped doesn't quite work, because it usually implies that one partner is a bit at the whim of the other, and I actually think Varric is the cause of all the problems.

Which tarot card is that meant to be? It looks like a coins/pentacle suit? I saw someone say knight of coins. But looks sorta like it could be a reversed ace of coins, with the city landscape at the top? Hmm. Maybe someone more familiar with tarot knows.

I use to give tarot readings back in high school, but I'm pretty rusty these days.  :(

I applaud Kirby's stance on omitting romances if they seem otiose in regard to the character's development and traits. Haven't played it, but the Citadel DLC in ME let you seduce this buff guy voiced by the rl buff guy who also voices the buff Qunari guy ... in an awkward tacked-on fling that didn't connect to the main campaign in any way, let alone one logical.

In a way Varric shares DAA-Anders' fate of growing weary of everything. Oddly enough, he seemed far more interesting this time around; if anything could turn someone into a cynic, it would have to be that woman.

I suspect he wants to punish himself in pursuing her for failing to save his brother, but I digress.

I don't like Bianca, the lady dwarf, myself. Feels like she is stringing him along into something he can never have because DWARF traditions. But I understand why. Still can't hope enough that she meets a spear somehow.
