Hi,

Lately I've tried some new mods but removed them. Since I've removed them the game starts but won't load any of my characters saying I need to download the latest patch.

I've uninstalled the game, re-downloaded it and re-installed it but the same message still pops when I want to load a character.

I subscribed to the beta last week (I think) but unsubscribed as I don't play MP. Could it be that?

Edit: When my mods were on, the game froze each time I put Cole in my party!! Considering my avatar and signature, you can imagine in what state I was... That's why I removed the mods in the first place.

Edit: I tried to put the mods again (in fact I created the merged patch without any mods on) the character loads but I still have the " Cole bug"...

Wouldn't the save require the mods you removed?

They're just mods to add shops in Val royaux and Redcliffe and black PJs. I don't think they're compulsory. Plus, as I said, the game was bugged with them on...

OK, I loaded a save before the mods thing and everything works fine. I'll just have to make do without the mods.

Topic locked I guess...

Quick tip: If you can't get mods working in the future, try editing your package file in your patch folder for DA:I.  Open it up in Notepad ++ and you can change your patch number to fit match the save file of your game.  It won't harm anything, but I would recommend a repair before downloading any official patches.   :)

Each time you merge your patch with mods, the version number of the patch increases. All you need to do is edit the package file using notepad and increase the version number found there (really simple). Do this as many times as necessary until saves work. You don't need to delete anything.

Anytime and happy gaming!  :D

Oh, something I just thought of.  You might want to check the descriptions on the Redcliffe and VR shop mods.  If memory serves, having both running at the same time can mess your game up.

I've just come back from work and tried you tips and it worked! Yay!! Thank you so much!

Indeed, I saw those mods could pose problems, that's also a reason why I wanted to remove them after purchasing all the schematics and other stuff. But it still asked for a more recent patch. But anyways, problem solved! Phew!

I recommend lowering the package version number back to the original after merging with mods in the future. That way you don't have to worry about saves suddenly not opening or the version number getting too high from adding mods multiple times.
