So the time has come to purchase a Play Station 4.

I normally wait a while before purchasing the current console.

Here are a few games I'm considering. Let me know what you think?

Elder Scrolls Online: I know. The game isn't that great. However I can think of two big draws for me. A game set in the beloved Elder Scrolls Universe (huge plus) and a flexible class system where each class has 3 unique skill lines and a whole bunch of shared skills. I've been told that Guild Wars 2 does all of this better so I might give that game a go.

Witcher 3: I haven't played Witcher 1 and 2. Perhaps I'll play these on my laptop first. Do these two games come with options for low end computers. My laptop wasn't built for gaming. I want to be able to play with a stable frame rate with minimal crashes (even if that means garbage graphics).

People keep telling me that the Witcher series is the best for role playing. So many decisions that change the world completely. Actions have powerful and meaningful consequences. Even decisions made outside quests (such as clearing out an area plagued with monsters) will lead to some interesting results. The characters, lore and world feel alive which is a claim that apparently only the Witcher series lives up to. I hope Play Station releases the entire trilogy so I can go through all three back to back.

Fallout 4: Yes! I've waited too long! I loved Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas! That said, I was hoping the game would look as gloomy as Fallout 3. Fallout New Vegas had better story and characters but the atmosphere was not bleak enough for my post apocalyptic tastes. Let's put it this way. FO3 was grey, grey and grey. FONV was yellow, green and some grey. Okay the trailer for FO4 has a diverse colour pallet (even during the post apocalyptic sections). Either way. The previous two games I played did not disappoint. Bring it on!

Dragon Age Inquisition: I love mages to be able to perform well in many different roles. These include: summoning, shape shifting, enhancing allies, weakening foes, healing allies, area of effect destruction, crowd control, illusions etc. Sadly from what I gather the mage is mostly elemental damage, a limited defensive tree plus specialisation that added some much needed variety. I love nuking mages but I prefer this for a game like Infameous where you're a one man army.

So what is the main draw for me? It's the story, lore, characters, romances, big weighty decisions, war table, crafting options etc. In addition being able to import decisions from previous games and play as a Qunari (FINALLY!) are really attractive to me! I'm going to wait for some more of the DLC though. I want to reach as high a level as possible so that I have lots of abilities at my disposal and explore as much of the story as possible.

The next Mass Effect game: You know what? I enjoyed the entire Mass Effect trilogy. Sure it didn't end as well as it could of, but heck I loved the characters, lore and universe. Oh and blowing up stuff with biotics, tech powers and the occasional combat powers never gets old. Like Dragon Age, this is one of the few universes where I pay attention to the dialogue and engross myself in the stories. So often in RPG's I skip the dialogue and think to myself "oh please stop talking! SHUT UP". In Mass Effect I'm thinking "Let's talk forever". Sadly there are times when I do want to talk and the crew mates are too busy doing stuff like "calibrations".

I'd like to do more exploring of the universe. Mass Effect 1 is the only game in the series with planet side exploration. It was a bit of a copy paste job so I'm hoping Mass Effect 4 expands on this.

The next Uncharted game: This is the kind of series that should in theory have disinterested me. Parkour got a bit dull for me during Assassin's Creed. Cover shooters (without funky powers) get a little dull. I'm not too fond of solving puzzles either. However none of that seemed to bother me in the Uncharted series. I felt like Indiana Jones rushing from one action set piece to another. It was mindless popcorn fun with me invested in the action. I ended up falling in love with Drake, Sully, Elena and Chloe as we globe trotted in search of some treasure whilst being hunted down by armed men.

Play Station All Stars: I love the Smash Bros games for the Nintendo. Sony's mascots are nowhere near as epic, but hey they do have some awesome characters too. Examples include: Kratos, Cole McGrath, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Zak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank and many more. Smash Bros is a celebration of my favourite Nintendo characters so perhaps Play Station All Stars is a celebration of my favourite Sony characters?

Assassin's Creed: Black Flag: I'm a little bored of the parkour and sneaky stabby stabby nature of these games. However swashbuckling, sailing, naval battles and looting some epic booty. Is this game more pirate orientated than the other Assassin Creed games? If so sign me up. As for story, I don't care. I just want to be a pirate ninja bad ass with a questionable moral code!

Grand Theft Auto 5: I might give this a try. I have heard great things about the game. The three different perspectives, lots of side activities and crazy missions sound interesting to me. I want to play as Trevor and go on a rampage!

Watch Dogs: A game about a guy who uses his smart phone to do all the things you can't do with a smart phone. It's basically GTA with hacking. Yes I know the plot is a little dumb, but hey I want to be a tech wizard!

Infamous 3: Flashy superpowers with sparkly boom boom action! So does this game deliver the goods like previous Infamous games or is it infamously terrible?

So what are your suggestions?

Obviously my list is RPG heavy, but I am open to all genres.

So maybe you've uncovered a shooter that is worth a mention, or a racing game that is truly unique. Perhaps it's an indie game that no one has heard of before.

I'll speak for the Witcher.

The Witcher will probably be able to run on a laptop, depending on the model, at low to med maybe high. It's fairly old by today's graphic standards. But it's hard to say not knowing your laptop model. The Wticher 2 probably wont if your laptop IS NOT made for gaming. I mean you could possibly get it on low settings but I imagine almost everything would need to be turned off and the frame rate may be sub-par (13-20??). If you have a 360 I'd suggest getting it on there. It may not be as good of quality as the PC, but it runs fine and the quality is still okay.

That said I recommend them if you can get a chance to play them. They're one of the few games I've purchased multiple copies of (TW once on GOG and once on Steam. TW2 GOG and 360 when my video card went out lol).

You will not be able to play Witcher 3 on anything lower than a GTX 860m and get an acceptable frame rate and resolution. Play it on PS4. It's full 1080p, albeit 30 frames, but it looks stunning on next gen consoles still. Also,as far as the Witcher 2 is concerned it's actually almost as taxing as Witcher 3. Especially at 1080p. I don't know if you have an xbox 360 but cdprojekt did an amazing port with Witcher 2 Enhanced edition on 360. I assume by "non gaming laptop" you mean integrated graphics.... And yeah, you will not be able to play Witcher 2 or 3 on that laptop. Even at low resolutions like 1280x800 or whatever.

I'd go DAI, ME, GTA5. Those are the three names there that really, uh... well. Funny fact, if my friends didn't get me to play Online with them, I'd be damning GTA5 to high hell right now.

Life is Strange. Don't even bother telling me that gem isn't on the PS4 if it isn't, because I'll just shout HERETICS real loud.

I also wouldn't recommend Black Flag. I liked it, sure. It sparked my current tradition of adding an adjective in front of my long-term name (used to be Capt'n, right now I just go with Inquisitor) - but after completing it 100% (the only game ever, I admit... possibly because it HELD MY HAND, ALL THE WAY THROUGH - Life is Strange will soon catch up to it, I swear. As soon as Ep5 releases...) I can say that I was so burnt out that I never lasted longer than the Prologue in any subsequent playthrough. There's also the added disadvantage of Uplay, but I don't think they want you to install that virus on the PS4.

Other than that, I don't seem to have suggestions. I'm currently hooked on GTA5, but that's already there. I'd say XCOM2 and ArmA 3, but both are PC exclusives - and one of them is a reason I simply can't ever switch to console gaming.

Well, maybe if BioWare ever releases a remaster of the ME Trilogy, or DAO and DA2... Questionable in DA2's case, maybe, but still...

It's a free to play FPS that should be coming to PS4. I've played it once before, but it was awesome.

Vanu Sovereignty all the way!

Oh! Oh yes! Definitely! PlanetSide 2! I forgot it's coming to PS4. That's the one FPS I really liked in the relatively near past.

Also, die you filthy Spandex wearer! Freedom to Auraxis! Down with the Terran Tyrrany! Death to the Vanu ex-humans!

I will be playing Witcher 3 on Play Station 4 though.

13-20 frames per second is not great but I've encountered much, much worse. It will do.

Trust me, a human can get used to those framerates and consider them "playable"

ArmA is torturing me with them for years now.

New Conglomerate.

The two a-hole sides are the Vanu Sovereignty and Terran Republic.

Although Never Challenged is sometimes an accurate description of the NC Warmachine. Steam roll everything!

It think Witcher 1 will be playable, again I don't know what cpu your laptop has and thus it's integrated graphics, but... If it's a relatively new cpu, say like last 2 or 3 years I think it will run Witcher 1 at sub 900psih and get 40 frames or so. But Witcher 2...... No way. If I were you I'd just pass on it, as it will be a miserable experience.

Heresy. The NC are rebels who want to screw up everything and the TR... I like them.

But the VS is where it's at. Plus, we're fabulous and got that booty.

I'd rather side with the faction with the latest tech. Plus the VS appeal to me more. We have hover tanks BTW.

The new Ratchet & Clank on the PS€ looks really good, come to think of it. So, I suppose that's something to look out for as well? I might even pick it up meself as I feel I've missed out on the Future trilogy and loved the original trilogy on the PS2.
