I havent played much through the single player campaign yet, still relatively new to DA:I, but I've been unlocking new characters on multiplayer to get a feel for the different classes and styles.  At first I wanted to play a knight enchanter, so I unlocked the arcane warrior to see how spirit blade was, and the result was extremely underwhelming.  I went through and unlocked the Katari, however, and I ended up tearing through enemies faster than the rest of my party combined (we had two keepers and an archer in the group, all higher level than my katari).  I was taking out most enemies in 3-4 swings, and had guard up almost all the time from charging bull.

Needless to say I'm convinced I'll be going with a 2h warrior for the single player campaign when I get around to making a new character.

In single player mages do well due to their superior and constant AOE and rogues due to their massive DPS vs single targets.  Warriors in general just don't do the DPS that maximized mages and maximized rogues do.

Artificer Rogues are AOEing machines as well.  In the end Rogues are the kings of DPS and mages do well since they ignore armor and have a lot of AOE.

Cant really get guard up as a rogue though, and it's nice being able to tank a bit even with a 2hander.  I thought about running a rogue but the playstyle just isnt meshing with me, I'm not a big fan of dual wield.

DW Dagger- or even Archer- trumps 2H Champion or 2H Reaver for burst damage. As a DW Rogue- I can kill 2 bad guys (sometimes 3) before anyone in my party even realizes we are in combat.

However- as a 2H Champion- I wan waltz into the middle of a group of bad guys- challenge them all- and them beat them to death with a giant axe.

Guard on Hit for your Rogue armor if you want a bit more melee feel to it. Or go 2H Champion- get the Axe of the Dragon Hunter Schematic from the Black Emporium. All three classes are fun- but unique- as they should be.

Thing is, Multiplayer is not the best way to decide a Single Player class/weapon set. I usually play for RP over numbers myself, but Rogues and mages are simply different styles of play.
