And iconic companion/NPC specific stuff should stay companion/NPC specific.

I disagree. I've never been a fan of the iconic armor sets being specific to a certain character.

I don't think BioWare would lift down the class restriction gear, But I you are a PC owner I would suggest downloading the mod for no class restriction since the past DA games had one.

The class restrictions can stay, since there are materials that ignore it like Silverite.

Was this before or after they started doing multiple races? Because that might have been the plan until they had to make armor for several races instead of just humans, and decided their resources had to go towards all the races getting armor over being able to wear any armor in the game.

It was after. It was in one of the Twitch streams a few months before release. Chances are a lot of the armor schematics were chopped out of the final version of the game to make room or something.

I would love to see some of the NPC armours available in dlc! I know, don't encourage Bioware, etc, but there is no chance of them patching it in. Dlc is the only way to get this stuff now.

There are so many I've seen that I would love:

-River Dane armour from DA2 (I think Threnn and some of the scouts wear it)

-Multiplayer character outfits (including Calpernia's, I think)

-Venatori outfits

-Mage robes (some of the elves hanging round Skyhold have nice ones, including Commander Helaine)

-Male elf mage robe design... for female elves. There's a female elf in the garden who wears it, so it's obviously available for that body type

-Orlesian armours: the elaborate one with lion head (?) pauldrons, the one worn by Michel de Chevin, the 'free army mage robes', the other mage robes (which look like 'Guardian of Ensalin' armour from DA2). You can get schematics or random drops for these at low levels, but nothing higher. So yeah you still have to give up a pretty armour as you level up (which I'm sure they said wouldn't happen with the new crafting system).

-Bandit armours, some of them have unusual or nice gear.

-Harlequin armour.

-There's a dwarf in Val Royeaux that I'm sure has a unique armour design.

-Inquisition rogue/mage/warrior armour. At the moment, a very low-level version is available for sale, and no schematic.

-Something Qunari-specific, please!!

There's probably more I've forgotten. I did a big picture of all the unique outfits I spotted before. Must go look for it. Honestly, I love cosmetic stuff. It might seem silly, but additional armours and casual clothes (nudge, nudge, Bioware) add so much replay-ability to me, since it gives each character a slightly more unique feel. Plus it gives you something different to look at.

Anyone paying for this crap is either a blind fanboy or does not realize the value of money.

I think this is the first time that I'm actually going to skip the new content. It's just not worth it. I don't need new recolors of the mounts that I already have and neither one of the Avvar armors are something that I would use on my inky, ever (I prefer Dalish armors). Also, I do not like how the lighter Avvar armor makes characters legs look huge in comparison to the upper body. In addition, I managed to watch as one of my friends tested the Avvar armor scematics and tinting them was a great disappointment.

Any new additions to a game should be just that - new - and exciting, not the same old stuff in a different form.

To the people that give the impression that these kinds of DLC are okay in general. These outfits are not even new; they were already in the DLC and they chose not to make them wearable so they could be sold separately later. And like you said, they don't even offer many, just a couple and some mount recolors so they can justify the price. It just leaves a bad taste. I'm just worried that it's a sign of this becoming a thing and them holding out on stuff like this in the future as well.

But if there was going to be armor dlc no matter what then I agree with you. There should be more sets offered.

Were item packs for the other games like this?

The item packs for DA2 were very good, actually. I bought them, and I felt they were worth it. They had a lot more stuff in them though. Accessories, (very attractive) armor and weapons, some of which scaled with level.

With DAI dlc I just think that, I could pay 20€ for a new area with some story drops and an outfit dlc that really rubs me the wrong way, or put 5 more euros for the witcher 3 expansion pass, from the company that has been giving me 2 free pieces of dlc a week with more to come. Hmm, really, it's so difficult to choose which company is worth my money.

Oh well, at least the SWtOR team continues to be decent.

*On a serious note, from someone that has every piece of dlc for da:o, da2 and the ME games, f*ck this dlc, at least they could put some work for cosmetic dlc like they used to.

I wish that if you were friends with certain companions they would give you a schematic for their armor style. I really want a Vivienne style armor for my quizzy, plus she promised to take her shopping. I think it would be a nice little perk for making them a friend.

Here's what I'd like them to do. Maybe they already did it, I don't know. I doubt it.

Fix the hat schematic for Cole that they added in JoH. It erases his hair, like all the other hats other than his original one, and it looks so goddamn stupid.

Also, just fix hats in general. Let the hair clip through. It will look a thousand times better.

Similar. DA2 had them but they offered more and unique armor and weapons. ME3 had some that centered around team armor.

Good idea. Sort of like asking to learn their specialization in DA:O. I thought that would be a cool conversation with Cullen, too.

I agree 1000%. That was sloppy. I'm just glad there is at least a workaround. Here's one of my posts I used to explain:

Just so everyone knows, there is a workaround for using hair with a hat, and it's pretty simple!

N6sJ9EG.png

Spoiler

Just summon a mount, then mount it with any companion who has headgear. Wait until everyone disappears, then dismount. Then, after a couple of seconds, your Inquisitor's (and I think everyone else's) hair will appear through the headgear! I find it works the best on the hat above, or the Orlesian Mage Hat. There will be clipping depending on the hairstyle, but with mine, it's only at the back of the hat, and since the hat is dark like her hair, and she has a bow and quiver on her back, it's hard to notice.

Random note: Unfortunately, using Longshot will make the hair disappear. I don't know about warriors and mages, but all Dual Dagger abilities work fine, so have fun! Also, you will have to do it again when traveling to new areas. I hope this helps people :)

Oh man. I can't wait to try this out. I get more excited about hats and hair than I probably should.

Of course, this probably just shot to the top of their patch priorities just now.

I don't recall the DA2 item packs (that I actually bought) to be that much better than the Avvar themed pack. They didn't release a Grey Warden armor pack shortly after the Legacy DLC, however. It is all a bit iffy, I agree.

That reminds me of what modders could do if modding were easier. Armor imports from TW, DA2? There is something which they really could have taken away from Skyrim.

Definitely one of my least liked Bioware DLCs ever.

ME had the appearance crap-packs, but DA2's item packs had new models for the weapons and armor (the first had two sets for each class, but only low-resolution textures; the second pack had high-resolution textures but only one new model per class). (They also had unique restricted accessories for companions, which help offset their inability to equip any armor.)

This is definitely crap-pack level, as it all appears to just be re-skins of existing models and almost entirely cosmetic. Maybe there are some new mesh combinations in there somewhere, but certainly nothing that looks entirely new.
