You are aware that you need to get the Lone Wolf banner to earn the BotB, right?
I had written at the beginning "Only the lone wolf banner is a little challenging to get in the process of getting the BotB one", before editing it to keep it short, thinking that it was clear enough. I should have kept it long apparently. 
I`m gonna come of sounding like a narrow minded douchbag now.
When I get into a lobby with someone using the BotB banner, I assume I have to carry extra weight that match. On ps3 atleast, the BotB is more then likely to score about 40k in a uug, and play their kit badly.
I have wiped, cos I got synced about half way throught w8 reaper gold, and had 2 BotB in the lobby that could not for the life of them finish the wave.
It seems like alot of ppl grind this banner for a long time, and see it as a free pass to drop into gold and plat and just ready up without any equipment on.
It brings a feeling of "talk the talk, walk the walk" to see that banner.
That been said, I have a few BotB encounters where they have been very solid players, but they are outnumbered badly by bad BotB users.
This is just my personal experience regarding the topic, and I may been very unlucky, repeatedly.......

haven't even bothered to get it on any of my accounts because absurd number of 200 wave challenges for characters I hate. Machinist banner with quarians on it or alt mathemagician is all I care about.
Only scrubs and tax evaders wear BotB banners. 
I wore the femshep one for a while when it came out, just because I could. And got and wore the Lone wolf when I moved to Xbox to keep me from getting kicked from plat lobbies. (We know how well that worked... but that's another story.)
I think it's silly to think BotB means a player can carry. We've just done the necessary challenges, and you can do those without ever learning anything about the kits and weapons you're using, just grind them out.

I used to wear the Machinist banner with Quarians for the longest time at one point. Back when I had the hots for the FQE.

As someone who DOES wear the BOTB banner, you'd be amazed how many lobbies switched to Platinum within a minute of me joining.
Yes, PUGs really do think it means you'll carry them. Probably why so many BOTB players go out of their way to be bad; to troll.

Well, the banner is only good for one game, after that they know how good you are (not).
Earlier today I joined a GiP, it went really well and I stayed for more. While I was in the store everyone was readying up, so I slapped some lvl1 consumables on before it started. Wave 1, I run around a corner and suddendly Atlas. Host switched up to Platinum because I destroyed everything on Gold. Bleargh. Full extraction, 22min... with a kit that wasn't meant for Plat. Left immediately after.

60 promotions. Yeah, never ever going to do that again. Most of the other challenges are completed as you play, only the 200k for exotic weapons or 200 waves for rarely used kits are a bit annoying. It's not really hard, just tedious.
promotions are EZ. Just use the winfiltrator class and spam QMI at low levels. He's completely plat viable with 2 points.
Or you can buy millions of recruit packs If you dont mind dying of old age before getting to use your tryhard banner.
I'll never have BotB on my PC account, because my N7 is staying at 120 forever, which as time goes on will become rarer and rarer, and be totally way more awesome than BotB banner could ever be
My Xbox account has it but doesn't use it. Alt Council Operative on both
Should most definately be a banner for playing drunk, if there were myself, Deckard and Nightman would have it for sure.
