Okay, so I'm nearing the end of DAI, and to be honest there's a fair amount of stuff I still haven't done. Lots of rifts not closed, haven't found many of the things that are supposed to strengthen the veil, and I have a bunch of quests I could still do. But I'm wondering, does any of that stuff REALLY matter? I don't want to know specifics, I'm just wondering if these things have ANY effect on the ending of the game.

Nope. Doesn't affect it all. Companions wont talk to you after the end so you may want to do all their stuff first.

Edit: oh judgments lock out too.

Okay! I'll just go ahead and do the end. Wasn't sure if it was like ME3, where the end varied based on how many forces you'd amassed.

Nope! All you "need" to do is the main quests, and you need enough power to do said quests.

You'll definitely want to do companion and romance-related quests before the end, though.

As others have said, beware that a lot of interaction possibilities close up on you the moment you complete the game's story (probably even more than you think).

The game is more about the journey than the destination...

As roleplaying games should be, in my opinion.

While some decisions may play a part in future titles or DLC (ie; The Keep), they may not be involved in the current epilogue of this tale. The think I like is that the Player has the freedom to choose which of the offerings is important to them for crating their stories whatever the reason (eg; RP, mechanics, etc).
