After lots of trial and error, I've used magentaman215's renaming technique to give Kaidan Shepard's intro uniform without changing any other person's crew uniform! 
It took some fancy footwork to get this mod into a shareable and easily installable state, but I've got it working now and I intend to use this technique to give Kaidan many more casual outfit options!
The mod will change every instance of Kaidan's crew uniform into the BDU in one of four colors. It works seamlessly with all DLC and in all locations. No other crew uniform in the game will be affected by this mod!

The mod is available for download here on the Nexus. I may expand it in the near future to change his armor in the Citadel coup scene to this, but that's still up in the air. Now updated to include the Citadel coup confrontation as well. The addition is entirely optional if you'd rather keep him in his armor for that bit.
