I asked this a while ago and Chris Priestly said ME2 already has high res textures. I guess their standards are just that low.

It's actually a bit better in ME3 once you get past the opening mission but they made some other compromises so the Xbox version can run it at 30 frames per second. Here's hoping Mass Effect 4 will be developed for next-gen platforms.

***This probably only works for ATI cards***

I stumbled upon this thread today and...well, I think I have a solution. Someone mentioned Jack's tattoos, so I used them as a sort of a benchmark. I'm using an ATI HD4650 with Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM (I know, I know, it's a waste), Vista 32-bit. So, I was playing FarCry a couple years back and I had shrubs jumping all over the place. It made the game unplayable. So I was directed to this program called ATI Tray Tools, and upon messing around in the tweaks section, it solved my problem. So anyway, this is a side view of Jack's tattoos without the tweaks.

Note the blurriness in the arm. After tweaking, Jack's tattoos look a lot better.

This makes a noticeable difference in the texture quality.

So, how to tweak it. First go to http://www.guru3d.co...ti-tray-tools-/ and download ATI Tray Tools. Once it's installed and everything, right-click on the red diamond-shaped icon in your tray. Go to tweaks --> standard tweaks. Choose the Direct3D tab if it's not already selected and check the "Force Mip-Map Filter" box. You can alt-tab out of the game to change it on the fly to see the results better. The Geometry instancing option got rid of my dancing foliage, just an FYI. I really hope this works for everyone else so I didn't make this account for nothing.

Thx, this worked perfectly. Been searching to fix this problem the last few days after reinstalling the game after a long time. Was hard to find this answer in the middle of all these idiots just repeating "it's a console port, can't possibly be a bug, textures are just supposed to be this bad, bla bla bla" without knowing what they're talking about.

At least someone knows what he's talking about. This should be stickied somehow.
