Just a little guide to making the most of each of your hard earned credits. Most of this is pretty common knowledge for most but some will find it helpful for landing those elusive pistol and shotgun amps or cyclonic mods as well. So here's a few tips:

1)Most important thing is probably the most annoying thing as well. Having the DLCs on removable hard drive and removing it when you buy packs. This removes a lot of the less useful equipment from the RNG pool and give you a better chance at landing what you need. Strength Enhancers, Drill Rounds, Phasic Rounds and some other useful equipment depending upon your opinion will be left out though but so will Explosive Rounds, Stability, etc.

2)Pool your credits. I know it's easier to just top off D pad consumables after every game but seriously most of us aren't using all that equipment each game. Not to mention if you have equipment that you actually really want you're better off pooling up a good amount of credits (at least over a million) and then buying JEPs until you top off Dpad consumables.

3)JEPs vs Vet Packs. Generally JEPs are better all the way around because it's ten items and more Dpad consumables per pack. However Vet Packs do give 6 of a Dpad consumable each pack, so if you're topped off on all but one Dpad consumable and want to spend credits on Spectre Packs or PSP once you finish capping Dpad consumables then Vet packs are more efficient at topping one Dpad consumable per pack and are also cheaper. Rockets and medigels are the only exceptions as JEPs can have more than six rockets and medigels per pack randomly.

Also one difference between vet's and jep's is that the first 4 slots in a vet pack is a guaranteed level 2 consumable and the fifth slot is a guaranteed level 3 assuming your d-pad consumable is maxed out, where with jep's nothing is guaranteed except the d-pad 5 consumable d-pad item if it's needed.

If you only want to top off your missiles or medigels, then buying the 5k packs is much cheaper than buying the vet.

Don't bother. Potato guns and gear are more fun to use than UR's anyway, and once you have all 5 quarians, all the quarian weapons, a Claymoar and a Saber, you've basically won the game.

That's good to know, I'm always low on level 2 Gear for Gold and was going to have to start using level 3 soon

I got 9 Medi-Gel from a JEP the other day. NINE. That's a lot when the RNGs hate you and you play with noobs all the time.

Good move Nuke. 2 remarks :

- I'm pretty sure JEPs can also give more than 6 medi-gels (5+2);

- I think you could remind in a fourth point which packs are the best to buy to unlock characters and weapons. They all have the same probability to offer an UR card (7,5% I believe), but Arsenal packs don't give characters cards iirc so they're the best to unlock UR weapons.

What happens is the first 4 slots in a JEP are dedicated to each of the 4 D-Pad consumables, +5 of each.  Occasionally, a few cards at the tail end of the Pack will give you +2 more of one of those, so long as it wasn't at max when you bought the Pack.  Unlike the +5, the +2 is not guaranteed, and kind of rare.  It is possible to get multiple +2 of one item type.

Once you max an item, both the +5 and the +2 will no longer drop for it.

Remember that Recruit packs will give you 2 D-Pad consumables per pack as long as you need them, so those 6 rockets that cost 20k in a Vet pack are only 15k in 3 Recruit packs. Of course it depends whether you care about the other stuff in either pack.

Yeah IIRC it's all level one gear right. Vet packs have some pretty decent gear in them which is why I go that route.

Since this thread reminded me that I'm running out of missiles (yes, I'm a secret rage missiler, I confess) I went off and bought 20 JEPs in a row and recorded the fall of the +2 cards. FOR SCIENCE!

9 packs had no +2 card.

7 packs had one +2 card.

4 packs had two +2 cards.

So the +2 cards are not that rare, with 15 +2 cards in 20 packs.

The +2 cards were not always the same when they occurred twice in the same pack, out of the 4 doubles two packs had +2 Cobras and +2 Gels.

Edited for the first one.

I guess I could link another thread on those details, I mainly wanted the thread for those poor souls who are out of shotgun amps like myself.

Although it isn't necessarily quite as credit efficient in general, if I only have one of gel, rockets, ops, thermals left to max I usually just go straight to SPs.  It will be maxed soon enough.

What Deerber said is compelling though.  I guess I should give myself 255 of everything.

Once you have 255 of the D-Pad consumables you'll get more Rail Amps

I wish there was a 60k version of the AP.  AKA something where you wouldn't have to waste a slot on pointless human character xp.

Not that it matters.  That would just make for even more stability mods and explosive ammo.

I've gotten those a few times, and they were always after a streak of disastrous pug games. Might be RNG's way of calling us scrubs.
