I thought that was the most interesting thing in the article. This board's convinced me that TOR was an unmitigated disaster and EA was gonna pull the plug any day now. Guess not.

It ain't WOW obviously but along with Guild Wars 2 or FFXIV it's one of the few succesful MMOs that bring good cash and continue with regular expansions/updates. Guess Destiny would count as well if you consider it an MMO, it has very healthy playerbase and they just announced new expansion, Activision seems happy with the money it makes

The Old Republic is a great game, but only if you are a subscriber or have endless patience to do every sidequest so that you don't become underleveled. I have never made it past level 25, way to much grinding and repetitive quests in order to stay at a competent level.

If you do Flashpoints then it becomes easier to stay at an appropriate level.  Or PVP.  Even Galactic Starfighter can help.

 

(Though doing many flashpoints while levelling probably needs you to go Tank/Healer to get reasonably short queues, which may slow you down a bit while questing)

I say, with zero capacity or understanding of the intricacies of the game-making process. But still, if things are taking longer than expected, then engage the fan base more and tell them about it instead of just leading them on.

Which is the equivalent of a tiny bandaid on a gushing wound. The EC was a barebones, minimal effort DLC that didn't fix the real problem.
