Does anybody else feel that the Spoils of the Avvar should have been included with Jaws of Hakkon? All the items in SoA relate directly to the exact same area and people as JoH and would have fit nicely as a reward for completing driftnet portions of the DLC? This just feels like an obvious cash crab by Bioware to get as much money from fans a possible by breaking up something that should have been a set because they know they can nickle and dime the fans and they will ****** and moan, but in the end, pay them. I didn't purchase either, I don't buy DLC on principle but it still irks me that they are doing this to those that do buy it.

I do think it was deliberately with held. "Hey if they like this Avar stuff we can sell them this ****, if it sinks we can give it out as a free DLC for PR, win win!" *EA and Bioware people high five* or something to that effect.

Yeah, this one is sort of ridiculous. A $15 DLC that's exclusively Avaar themed, and then a $5 weapons/armor/mount bundle that's also exclusively Avaar themed? Two months later? Surely that stuff could have just been included in JoH.

I don't think they intentionally planned to sell it later, only because there are a ton of other armours in the game you can't wear, and they haven't sold them yet. But yes, it should have been included with JoH I think.

but they didn't have a DLC basically shouting " HEY! WOULDN'T IT BE COOL TO LOOK LIKE THIS?!?!?!" and then conveniently sell you a way to do that a few weeks later. It makes great business sense, but is shady and underhanded

The thing I don't understand though, is if they're so crafty, why haven't they released armour sets from the base game to sell too? I'm really starting to think they're not even business-smart. They could have made packs that sold much more than this one, but didn't. Their marketing kinda sucks.

Give it time. This is them testing the waters to see if people are still into cosmetic DLC for this game. If this sells well you can be guaranteed a pack to change Skyhold and Winter Palace duds (if they are smart this will be a 10 dollar DLC it WILL sell at that price based purely on demand for it). A Tevinter pack with Venatori enemy armor and schematics, then another that will "Make the Inquisition the strongest force in all of Thedas! Upgrade your arsenal and armor today only $5.!" letting you get the rest of the all ready in game stuff like the scouts armor the from the prologue, with maybe one or two new ones.

I don't want to bring up the CDPR thing, but they put EA to shame. They don't nickel and dime us. They respect the gamers. Showing respect to your consumers pays off, $4 million copies sold in the first two weeks. Learn and stop being so greedy, I find it absolutely insulting.

I know you said you didn't want t bring it up, and you do not have to respond if you do not wish to, but what is"CDPR"? I honest to goodness have not heard of this ( I don't really follow games unless its a western fantasy RPG nowadays.)

They are referring to CD Projekt Red, the folk behind the Witcher.
On release they have promised 16 free Dlcs, we have received approx. 6 of those so far.. A couple of armours, a new crossbow, alternative appearance for Yennefer (an Npc) and a couple of new side quests.

aaaah thank you. I had never seen it abbreviated like that before. I'm waiting to pick that one up when all the DLC's are available in one go (price of the game should have dropped by then too)

Worth looking into anyway.

Its only about 60 ish where I live.... I just really really really hate DLC, so if I am going to get a game with DLC I wait until it is all included with the game when I buy it. DA is an exception, I need that bit of crack when it drops, I just don'tget the DLC

That's the part I don't get though. People do want other cosmetic DLC (hair, Skyhold outfit like you said), but they know we want that (and seemingly refuse to deliver). So why not just release them first? If they're testing the waters of who will buy that, they'll get inaccurate results as people don't want this DLC not because it's cosmetic, but because it sucks.

If they release what we REALLY want first then it is very oblivious they held it back, or implemented ugly stuff in the first place to make us buy the better stuff. Release new Skyhold pajamas and hair fourth and it looks like they were working on it for the fans to buy all along instead of having multiple sets ready and waiting for when we complained. Plus, saving the good stuff for later keeps the fans playing longer, or rekindles interest to some one that stopped playing. Say you set the game aside for 6 months, but then you hear that there is this great new DLC that gives you more hair options, better causal clothes and some other nifty things. You'll likely pick the game up again to try them out. Bioware gets more money and a player back for a while.

Sadly, stuff like this is the norm now and has been for a long time and it's something we just need to accept. Now, don't get me wrong, I disagree with the practice quite profusely but I've long accepted that it's something that won't be changed.
One line that always pops up in these threads that is exactly right is, "The only way to change things is to vote with your wallet and not buy it."
However, with the amount of gamers in the world and the fact that number is ever growing, it's less and less likely that people aren't going to purchase items like this, especially so for two major genres: fighting games and RPGs.
Little packs like these help bring in income for the companies and publishers - and that's what this industry is, just like any other - about making money. Sure, you'll have people working for the companies that are passionate about what they do and truly want to aid in making the best game possible, but the higher-ups? The publishers? Investors? Money talks.
But back to the topic at hand, should the pack have been included in the absurdly overpriced DLC? You bet your ass it should've and I doubt there's a single person at BioWare/EA who doesn't know that on some level.

After more than six months? It would have been a reasonable thinking if the appearance pack with hair and change of PJs came out one or two month after DAI was out, but now is been so long that they can do whatever they want, since at most would be clear they worked on feedback and make them without witdrawing from the game, since it would have been out much sooner if it was.
The spoils of Avaar felt it should have belonged to JoH a lot because 3/5 of players had the chance to play the DLC less than a month ago. If Spoils was out later, maybe the feeling would not have been there, or at least it would have been less obvious to many.

No, we don't have to accept it. Not buying it is not accepting it.
I gave up on the fantasy of voting with my wallet long ago. For every thoughtful decision to pass on a poor product, 100 others may buy in without a thought. My decision affects only me, and I'm happy enough with that.

I find that rule applies with just about anything in life.
One could drive themselves mad trying to change something they don't agree with, even if everyone around them does agree.. Despite the individual's perception that it's wrong.
This is how cynicism is born, and selfishness, etc. But sometimes it can't be helped, at the end of the day you can only really worry about yourself.
I haven't bought Jaws of Hakkon -- the dlc doesn't interest me in the slightest, from want I have read. Now if the price drops, sure. I will pick it up and play it when Im bored shitless. As for the Avaar armour set or whatever it is. No way, not paying a dime for it. If I play DAI again I can cope without it. Frankly it isn't worth the money.
