Frankly, yes. Adding all of the Spoils of the Avvar content to Jaws of Hakkon would have gone a long way convince me the Jaws of Hakkon was worth 14.99.

One line that always pops up in these threads that is exactly right is, "The only way to change things is to vote with your wallet and not buy it."
However, with the amount of gamers in the world and the fact that number is ever growing, it's less and less likely that people aren't going to purchase items like this, especially so for two major genres: fighting games and RPGs.
Just because other people enable this type of behavior from companies doesn't' mean I have to. I will still vote with my wallet even if it doesn't make a difference in policy After all, people still recycle even though the vast majority don't and you don't see them stopping because "it really isn't going to change anything if just a few people do it" They plug along, sorting and binning because they know its the right thing to do.
You don't go back to the theater two months after you see a film to pay to see the deleted scenes, or read the "real ending" to a book (which is essentially what the last DLC for DA2 was and what the Solas DLC will be for DAI). It's not like movies and books didn't' try this model. they did they were called serials and came out on a chapter by chapter basis until people finally had enough. It wasn't a dramatic protest for change of course, those rarley work when money is concerned, people just stopped buying them. Some never picked up the whole book at the end because, others did, but guess what, they now put out whole books, and whole movies instead of a chapter, or 30 minutes at a time.
For me Games are no different the company gets one shot at my money so they better take advantage of it. If game companues charged more for the initial game but made it complete (no DLC, pre order bonuses, patches blah blah blah) I would happily buy it but release a cheaper incomplete game whose sales you plan on boosting by bleeding fans, well you get my initial investment in the game, but that's it ,you had your shot.
I know the genie is out of the bottle and can't go back in. So as long as there are people willing to buy DLC instead of demanding a complete game on release there will rbe DLC but that doesn't mean I have to like it, or buy it, so I don't. It also doesn't' mean I can't go around pointing out that it is a nasty practice to have that belittles the customer base.

they definitely should have been included in the Jaws of Hakkon DLC. not just for the money reasons, but also so they could be quest rewards or hidden loot or something. I'm assuming the Spoils DLC takes the usual loot DLC method of having a crate appear in your base with all the stuff in it? what's the fun in that?

I see what you mean, but I disagree that DLC is inherently bad. I agree 100% that I want a finished game. That should be guaranteed. I also don't want them to cut content out to sell later on purpose. But let's say an honest company (heh) makes a full, complete game without anything cut to sell later. In that case, why wouldn't I want them to build some more adventures for me? You can never fit all your ideas into any game, but I'd still like to see them if I can.

definitely. the idea of DLC is not a bad one, it's only that sometimes it's misused in order to milk extra money from things customers shouldn't have to pay for. painting all DLC as bad because of that abuse is like saying that nothing should ever have a sequel because many sequels are just pathetic cash-grabs to milk money out of a license by recycling the same plot

As it has probably been discussed on many occasions before - you don't like something then speak with your wallet, just don't buy it. This tells those responsible more than any other action does.
To be honest, I have bought the DLC, partly because I liked the new armour but also party because I like to support Bioware so they keep making the games I love and make them even better than before. Having said that, I am quite lucky in a sense that $ 20 (apprx. Jaws of Hakkon and Spoils of Avvar together) isn't such a big deal for me. I know this is not the case for everyone.
So, personally, I don't mind them being two separate DLCs because that gives me an opportunity to support Bioware as well as add new shinies to my game. If this was any other game (or the game I didn't like as much as I do DA), I probably wouldn't bother buying any DLC.

Voting with your wallet only works if you (and other people) tell them that you're doing it. Otherwise they've got no basis to understand why you're not buying it.

Of course. I found it silly they were in separate DLC packs instead of having it all in one. They're in the same story theme anyway.

I bought the spoils to basically just go with the DLC i had bought 20 secs earlier, was it a waste of money? yes definitely for me it was, i like the armor, it is to my tastes for making "barbarian" characters, but well the armor is weak, not being able to put arm/leg parts on it like other schematics just basically puts it way behind all other armor for me which is a real shame because it really suits my qunari with the helms they use
It didnt bother me spoils was a separate dlc, i felt an still do that i got more than enough armor/weapons and schematics from the actual story dlc

Two custom armor sets (with schematics), mount re-skins for each of the categories (two for uniques), and a full complement of customizations for Skyhold (a bed, a throne, decor, etc.).What all exactly is included in the Spoils of the Avvar DLC? An armor and it's schematic and 5 reskinned mounts? Is that it for $5?
Not at all worth $5 IMO.

Aren't the armors identical though? Just medium and heavy but the same skin?

No, there are 2 different ones that can be used by all party members. And they both look terrible.

How do the armors look on Qunari and Elf Inquisitors? I saw some kind of body paint "armor" from the DLC on Solas and Cole that made them look all buff and silly.

The prices don't bother me because I have no intention of buying DLC thats not Solas related.

I come back hoping for more dlc after I left this game months ago, only to find this BS. Wow.
Is the armor at least good looking? Any screens for male warriors from the people who did buy?
edit: I mean for human male warriors btw. Sorry, I just read the second page now and saw the screens. Meeeh so far from what I'm seeing. Meh to the max.
