Ugh, I get stressed just by reading your post. Stop it and just have fun, because that stuff that you're wondering is pointless.
Honest opinions - A question for those who've played with me on PS3.

So much this.
I've been there too, looking up at players like kj and pint, wondering how come they were so much better than me. Truth is, we all started somewhere and even though we all talk trash to each other, we'd all be more than happy to teach what we know and help you close the gap.
Seems like you're better than you give yourself credit for based on the responses of some of your teammates, and as such, just relax and play. Don't forget to enjoy yourself ![]()

That says more than a lot. I mean, I don't mind playing on your host because I like playing games with you, but that doesn't change the fact that your host isn't great. Playing a Slayer well on it? Mad Skillz, or maybe just mad.
Love ya too, ol' buddy, ol' pal

Thanks, everyone. I guess I really am just too critical on myself.
... I say as I come back form a spree of sub 100k games practicing melee kits. I swear, I did make 120k on the melee GI before I joined QMR, honest! >_< (even though I burned all 6 Medigels by like wave 4, since I didn't fully understand Geth Melee and was letting go of the button WAY too soon)
I probably just worry too much since, as a kid, gaming was my thing., Outside of new games/genres I wasn't used to, I was just good at everything. I didn't let it go to my head or anything, but I enjoyed it. But online play has really opened my eyes to just how many better people there were, and I guess my self esteem was just too shaky for it. I'm not saying I don't play other games online, but I think ME3 is the only non-MMO I've extensively played with Randoms, so yeah.

I think you did very well for a melee volus:) i can`t even play a regular volus. And the reaper game after is nothing to judge anything from. By the time you startet you melee chain, everything was dead from reave and arc pistol or claymore
Tip on the GI melee, use a venom to put your omni blade on. The venom is auto released when you do a geth heavy melee. So you keep it charged, use your huntermode to plan the attack, cloack, run in, look at your toes and pump away. It helps to have the extra stagger when you are about as sturdy as wet paper.

Oh, so THAT'S the trick to it! I was firing my Venom before starting the Melee, to stagger them. Gotcha!
My cycle was Charge-Cloak-Mine-Release-Melee. Charge-Cloak-Mine-Melee/Release would be more efficient.
Thanks! I'll try that next time I decide I need practice at kits with no duability! (No, seriously, that's why I started doing all that stuff, to train. My Cabal doesn't die if I spec it for Shields and Barriers Restored. I specced her as full melee, even down Biotic Focus, meaning no barriers restored.) it's fun in bursts, but I really was being too reckless.

There will always be better players than you, you see this when you expand from sp to playing with friends to meeting people on a dedicated forum for the game. Dont compare too much, it wont do you good. Just makes you insecure...Thanks, everyone. I guess I really am just too critical on myself.

PS3 sucks. The controls are all backwards and s&^%. God damned Collectors caused my brand new PS3 to freeze 5 times within the first 3 days I just bought it ..F that. I quit PS3 ME3. The Last Of Us is amazing to those who haven't tried it.

Honest opinion, Ranylyn? Don't worry about it. There are some who are better than you, and a lot who are far worse - including your present correspondent. Play, have fun, chill, enjoy the laughs, revive your team mates, curse at Phantoms, and blow up everyone with A-Bombs. And it'll all work out fine.

You did fine. Melee QFI and Krosent are a lot stronger than melee Volus Merc, and I sort of stole a bunch of kills from you anyway (thought the cheeky little bastard was following me around enjoying the Volus vision). I didn't realize you were going melee in the 2nd game with the Cabal so I pulled out the Claymoar QFE, and there's not much hope of getting in range to melee anything when Ark also had an Arc Pistol Justicar as well.
I think you just are getting a false impression from being on here and thus getting to play regularly with some of the most OP'ed people on the PS3. Sterling, Pint, Loufi and Ark are all absolutely top tier, for example, and I doubt there are more than a couple dozen players left on the system who would be able to get near them very often. You manage to break about even with me when not playing less powerful setups and I'm a tryhard, so I think you're fine.

Meh, being a good player isn't always about finishing at the top of the scoreboard. Score is important but doing all the other things like helping your teammates, capping objectives, and not putting yourself into bad situations is important as well.

I carry 9/10ths of my Gold games
You are already halfway to Spectre qualifications with that alone.
As you said though, Pugs aren't a decent indicator of your skill, especially if you play with any serious BSN players. If, however, you can hold your own with them and with other Spectres using "non-OP" kits, I say you are doing fine!
From what I read of your OP, it sounds like you are doing just that. Relax and have fun, as many others have said.
*something I still struggle with too, tbh...*
