I agree, Addai. She doesn't learn, ever. That warden story about them inserting themselves between the people and the darkspawn is lunacy, especially when contrasted with Duncan's, Ser Gilmore's, and even Alistairs take on the Wardens.

She tries to entice a man back into the tower who clearly states he has found peace. Not to mention that the templars hunted him down when he was but 14, ran him through and left him for dead.

She tries to make the magePC return to the tower.

She won't go back unless she's in a position of authority.

She tells the PC, after she pours blood into an ashtray that she hopes "the darkspawn will get her." Now, that might be viewed as the PC being evil, but keep in mind that not all PCs are humans and/or Andrastians.

I just don't get this 'grandmotherly' thing, especially after her shameless sexual innuendo at Ostagar. Ostagar, which holds so much emotions and memories, and bad ones at that.

I find it funny how she will attack you for defiling the ashes or you are a blood mage when you do the circle quest

yet all you get is an approval loss if you let the slavers do the blood magic ritual to make you stronger

nono, you get the approval loss for telling her to keep her opinions to herself.  I don't think you get additional approval loss for allowing the ritual, do you?

the point is letting elves die to a blood magic ritual=angry wynne but she doesnt try to kill you

but saving the circle using blood magic or pouring blood onto something that harms no body=Wynne kill mode

I just finished playing a blood mage. I used blood magic extensively throughout the Circle quest (that and mana clash). Wynne never ratted me out or called me on it. What did I do wrong (or right, depending upon your point of view)? I did give her a bottle of wine first thing. Did that raise my approval too high?

{Giving Wynne wine stops Wynne whining}

I just love what Sten had to say about the Urn: Congratulations. You found a trash can. Obviously, not every race shares Wynne's supposed reverance.

LOL  I think I have settled down.  Heh, I was much more upset about this on her behalf than my character probably was hearing it.  Growing up an elf mage in Thedas, she expects little from humans but their spit and wind.  She certainly got lots of both from Wynne.  All of this happened just after they went to the alienage, too, which was a shock even for her (having lived first in Highever Castle and then in the Circle Tower and not seen a purge).

Actually, if she did let Wynne assume the mentor role for her, she could end up in a much worse place than Aneirin did.  She's a blood mage with DPS talents and will continue to be involved in human society as a Warden, so if she went down the road of bitterness, it could be quite... [alistair voice]  bad [/alistair].  The irony here is that what would keep her from that would probably be Zevran, but that's a discussion for the other thread.  The point being, Wynne has not come very far when it comes to mentoring young elven mages.

Here's something I wonder. If Grandma Griffons is so rah-rah about the Wardens, why hasn't she sipped a darkspawn cocktail yet? Duncan didn't recruit her, you notice...

One mage warden at the time, her age would make her last a couple of years tops. It would be a stupid move.

Ha - I didn't buy that bit of Wynne "wisdom" for one second, not to mention there were obviously multiple mage-wardens present at Soldier's Peak.

And? This supposedly proves the Wardens would arbitrarily limit the number of mages in their ranks because a clueless non-Warden says so?

So, they did not get a new deal afterwards? How they did it before being deported from Ferelden makes no difference. Before the fall of the Imperium, there were bloodmages all over Tevinter, who used slaves to fuel their spells, is that there now? The reason to them being kicked out was not the point, it was them being kicked out.

And why would they lie to him about that (if we say that he didn't make it all up and that the devs just put him in there as a complete waste of space, which would make absolutely no sense at all)?

What in the Maker's name do the activities of Tevinter magus have to do with Warden recruitment policies? And who is this "him" being lied to? The only person in the game I recall stating that there is one mage-warden at a time is Wynne - and when it comes to the Wardens, the woman hasn't got a clue.

Only when it comes to the Wardens?

Besides, the Wardens in Ferelden only just returned, there hasn't been any time to establish a "only 1 mage" tradition.

Wynne is the most sanctimonious, judgemental companion you can have.  There are times that I wish was an option.  Wynne is of the opinion that her point of view is the only one that is right and believes herself to be unquestionable.

Obviously I disagree and did not get that impression. *shrug*Image IPB

Heh, I'm still mad at her over what she said at the gauntlet to my city elf.

What would that be?

Hmmm, city elf origin.  You and your friends are kidnapped by the Arl's son.  You are locked in a room, your friends who were kidnapped with you are taken away.  Your cousin manages to get to you, slides you a sword, and you end up having to kill your way through the castle.  You see your fiance cut down in front of you.  You continue going, fighting, just doing your best to get to your friends.  But you're too late, despite everything, and your cousin is already raped.  I chose in my origin to step forward and take the blame completely for the deaths.

You get to the guantlet, and the guardian asks his usual question -- did you fail Shianni.  Well, my first response was, No, Vaughn was the villain.  Wynne pipes up, "It's hard to know how your actions really have an effect on the outcome," like there was something else the PC could have done.  So I reload and say, "Well, I guess I could have run faster," despite, of course, having to fight all the way there.  To which Wynne replies, "You need to accept your failings."  The PC did nothing wrong, at all, yet Wynne, who had asked for and gotten the story, still had to be extremely sanctimonious at that point.

Of course, she says those things no matter what, which is why she normally sits at camp during that quest.  It's beyond obnoxious.  And quite funny, actually.  I wish the Guardian had brought up Aineiran to her instead of the fact that she basically spouts platitudes.  Of course, maybe that was the point -- but if it were, it was lost on her.

I have to agree with you on that one. I wanted to turn her into freakin dragon fodder on the spot. The City Elf story is emotionally hard and draining.  It's too close to home for any woman or minority in real life. We're talking here about kidnap, rape, abuse, murder, genocide and 22 other kinds of oppression and to hear that crap? If it was real life I would have told her to Get the Fade Outta My Face before I shoved a fireball up her butt.

Frankly I found her pompous in the extreme.

I keep hoping that I can force her to use that Spirit Vessel ability enough times that she will fall over dead. I like her less with every playthrough.
