What do you mean forced? You aren't forced to recruit her. You can tell her to stay in the Circle Tower once that quest is over.

I do hate how the game forces you to either take her with you throughout the quest or kill her. Why couldn't there have been an option for her to stay behind?

You can leave her behind after the Fade. And I really didn't know that figured she was like Oghren.

Well, you can:

1) Fight her on the way in to the tower. This is easy if you have Morrigan with you or if you insist you will help annull the tower. However, I don't like to do this as it means killing Petra and Kinnon, who've done nothing to deserve it. (Shame on Wynne for starting a fight in a room full of kids, too).

2) Drag her through the tower and then kill her when you reach Cullen.

3) Drag her through the tower but refuse when she asks Irving if she can leave with you. Just say she's needed there.

4) Swap her out of party immediately upon leaving the Fade. That way, she won't take credit for rescuing Irving. Unfortunately, you then won't have the chance to turn her down and she'll be at camp when you get there.

Wynne doesn't mention it at all if you destroy the Urn before picking her up. You may want to drop by camp once before going to the tower to ensure you don't trigger the confrontation with her (you'll have to deal with Leliana instead).

Edit: Heh, Wynne's "I had help, I didn't rescue you alone," has got to be the massive understatement of the year.  Not only does she get stuck in dreamland, she berates your warden while stuck!

Yeah, I'm still at a loss as to why - that spirit stalking her aside - Wynne thinks she has some sort of affinity for the Fade.

Ines is probably the best thing in Awakening.

I rather like Wynne but at the same time I strongly dislike her. More so as time passes.

I always said that Wynne is a character you like less over time.

But a lot of it depends on the character you are playing and who you are romancing. To a mage, she's worse, because of the way she lectures you about your duties as a warden and then tries to get you to go back to the Circle (after Aneirin's quest).

And her comments, if you are romancing Zevran, are obnoxious.

It really sucked as my Female Mage who romanced Zevran, getting told how to live my entire life made me want to Defile the Urn with her present almost.

She gets really grating as time passes. Especially her whole White Knight Grey Warden Protector fantasy. It's like she's projecting her fantasies from when she was a teenager onto you. So it comes off as really creepy. I get the whole corps is Mom thing but it's still grating.

I find it funny that she thinks she has any authority over my Wardens. I never took her speeches seriously, especially the one where she warns you about your romance. She is just another party member, not my mother. I do not hate her and she never gets under my skin, but her arrogance gets annoying after awhile.

Before I started stalking these forums I didn't know there were people who disliked Wynne, and I thought Bioware put her in the game to be the "conscience" of the Warden, and that everything she said was gospel.



Then I met Ines - amazing decision by Bioware to put her in the game. Shows that there are two sides to everything.

When I was first playing Awakening, I couldn't find all the stupid statues in the Wending Woods and I resented having to be in Amaranthine playing Arlessa plus the new conversation system sucked and Oghren kept taking offense at everything so I was THIS close to just calling it quits...and then I met Ines. She makes Awakening worth it.

What I would really like is that you could help Ines with her seeds and convince her not to go to the mages thing. You'd be helping a Wynne hater and screwing Wynne in the process.

It's entirely possible that Ines screws Wynne over at the meeting in Cumberland by agreeing with the idea that mages should become independent from the Chantry.

Oh I doubt Ines is going to just show up and do everything Wynne tells her to. She sounds pretty...vengeful...just before she leaves. That girl's got spunk.

No, but I do think the Wynne haters are such a numerical majority (and so enthusiastic LOL) that we easily overwhelm.
