The funny thing is i didn't think the comments about wynne were so hateful -- especially considering what other characters get! THIS thread has lots of Wynne hate, though!it much!
Unlike Alistair, Loghain, Zevran and Morrigan, Wynne's supporters tend to be much less passionate than her detractors.

Oh good so people can post here instead of the support thread.
Although without hate the support thread may die pretty quickly... that's been the fate of every other Wynne fan thread.
So true - Wynne is a pretty unremarkable character aside from her sermons.

^This. You rarely get massive wall of texts trying to downplay her flaws.
Anyways the support thread lasting isn't really a concern. Just a place for people to like Wynne without being bombarded by hate would be nice.

It's hard to defend her. She IS preachy, and her dialogues are designed to appeal to syncophants, really. I actually liked her on my second playthrough (on my first playthrough, she ended up dead as soon as we met - thanks, Morrigan!) - but my opinion plummeted with my 3rd playthrough as a mage - one who took her Warden role very seriously.

gah, well, threads without differing opinions get boring quickly. Even the love threads usually have people disagreeing on stuff.
I'm sure someone will be in here again, set in their mind that i hate my grandmother (who passed on years ago -- I'm quite middle aged). I find them fun!

I play generally good characters, but I still can't stand her. Morrigan's disapproval here or there doesn't bother me. I don't require NPCs to agree with all my decisions.RPGmom28 wrote...
I find Wynne to be a comforting presence in the group. She's witty, and she's a very good addition to any group with her skills. Of course, all of my characters are on the good end of the spectrum, so nothing I do upsets her except for my warden's insistence on dallying about with hot men. Which I won't apologize for, and will never, ever stop doing. But she gets over it.
I think like others, playing a PC mage is really where my Wynne hate got going. A mage who romances Zevran in particular. Blah blah Circle blah blah is eaiser to ignore when you weren't imprisoned there against your will. Then again, it's also fun to tweak her on that very issue. It's just too bad you can't meet Aneirin unless you have her approval up- that would really seal the deal on showing just how bad that old bag is at "mentoring".

That's the problem of playing a "hate" game with Wynne. If you have her at hostile approval you miss out on her quest and further dialogs that expose her hypocrisy.
Oh well, at least if you get her to -100 she'll leave out of her own will. The happiest moment in the game!
Well, second to killing her but still.

I just bring Morrigan along with me to the tower. The Wynne problem is quickly solved. Enough said (unless I want to be a good bloodmage but that problem too solves itself).

I didn't actually say that it was anything special (although hating on other characters generally doesn't warrant a 'Why do you hate your grandmother?'). I was responding to the statement that Wynne supporters don't have that kind of thing and other character's supporters do. In fact, it not being anything special was kind of the point.Ryzaki wrote...

I was merely saying I saw it far more rarely on Wynne then with other characters.

Oh, I do that too on one of my games (with my Dalish, though my CE kills her without any intervention from Morrigan), but the thing is that for some of my characters even agreeing with Morrigan (however slightly) is too OOC, including my bloodmage.
But on my canon run (which I'm about to replay), I will let her live and then proceed to do as many things that annoy her in the game, like sending her to the Fade via Jowan's blood ritual.

Yea, it's a laughable assumption. My full-blown dislike of Wynne began with a mage character who abhorred blood magic, saved the Circle, and didn't defile the Ashes. However, she earned Wynne's disapproval for taking her role as a Warden too seriously to consider returning to the Circle. It's curious how any other Warden gains Wynne's approval for acknowledging their old life is over, but the mage Warden is expected to fulfill Wynne's ambitions.

Wait it takes -100?! to make an NPC abandon you? The most I've ever lost was -72 from Morrigan because I dumped her but she was at 82 when I did that.
You may as well just tell Wynne (or who ever else...) to go straight to hell like Morrigan basic-ly does and in a lesser sense Loghain.

Indeed. My dislike for Wynne started with my HN who was by all means a "good" character (and I hate using that description). My dislike didn't turn to hate until I got the blood mage confrontation with my mage, but before anyone says "Aha! It was with an evil character that you hated Wynne.", blood mage PC =/= "evil" character.

You can't tell Wynne to leave the party like with other companions. That annoys me SO much!

Yea, it's irritating. It irks me even more that the only way to avoid having her forced into your party involves killing several bystanders.

No, Sarah's right. People can get really judgmental about you not liking Wynne. Like she's all molasses cookies and warm slippers, and if you don't like her you "hate your grandmother" or "hate mentoring". I think one guy said it means you hate yourself.Ryzaki wrote...

I think this is the best example of a judgmental Wynne fan...

I know, and I admit that I can't bring myself to kill her on two of my characters because it's too OOC for them. Why couldn't there have been a persuade option to convince her to stay behind? Or a "knock her out" option?Reaverwind wrote...

I realize that it fits Wynne's character to be stubborn and force herself into the party, but surely they could've come with a better alternative than having to kill her and all the apprentices in order to avoid her.

Oh, I agree. The Warden should have had the option to tell her "Hell, no, you're staying here, now take that damned barrier down."

One guy is a vast minority. That said I'm not going to argue about it.
And there's nothing wrong with hating her! I hate quite a few NPCs myself (that said I don't go onto the support group to say so).
