He's like 300 years old, surly he can add a few years to my lifespan.  Maybe he can help me get an OGB of my own too.  Can send him some pollitical enemies as test subjects.

Well, he might be able to help you have a child even with Alistair but an OGB? Unlikely.

....Ok ruthlessness is hot, but he needs tainted people / wardens.

I would settle for that, but you never know, another AD might pop up.

No problem, I'll make them do the joining, maybe even get a couple useful wardens in the process.

I see.
I wonder if you'd let Alistair know what you are doing.

Absolutly not.  I'll come home one day and tell him- "here, drink this.  It's suppose to be good for prostate health".

Maybe Avernus could study ways to make the joining less dangerous/high mortality rate by testing new darkspawn blood formulas on various nobles and such. Those who survive get to stick around for phase 2 of his experiments: demon baby breeding.

@Skadi: Wouldn't it be more productive and low key to test it on various peasants? So that way even if someone noticed they were missing they wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

Depends if you're trying to remain low-key, or create an air of subtle, but unnamable dread amongst your subjects. You might want to create a subtle tool of terror amongst the ruled. And the Bannorn does need to be brought in line. Sinister disappearances amongst the nobility that cannot be traced to the crown, but birth dark whispers of even darker deeds, is one way of doing so.

I say let Avernus attempt to create new Wardens through his experiments, and lower the joining mortality rate. Lower mortality from joining=more potential wardens available for Blights, weddings, and graduations.

Eh. I'm not sure the Bannorn will just fall for that. You pissing them off will do more harm than good.

Of course this is assuming those that survive tell them who did it.

If they all just vanish and die for no reason yes I could see them rallying behind the PC but at the same time they would demand the PC do some action.

??? Weddings?

Though yes I agree the mortality rate needs to be decreased.

Calling a Landsmeet and forcing everyone there to undertake the Joining could work but you'd have to worry about reprisal from heirs, particularly if they fear that they are next.

Possibly, yes. You'd have to be more subtle than that in dealing with the Bannorn. The Bannoron are easily divided, you could find out which Banns support you, and who their enemies are, maybe contract out a few untimely accidents or disappearances. Play them off against one another in more subtle ways, get them to feud and argue. Even petty little scraps have casualties, these "casualties", mainly presumed dead or missing nobles, could be delivered to Avernus for his experimenting pleasure.

And since said guinna pigs disappeared or "died" during a mini war with an enemy, on the surface, things don't look terribly suspicous.

I personally could, and, in a roundabout way, have with my DN. It is actually a very intellectual exercise, on how best to be a truly diabolically epic political and social mastermind.

Oh, yeah, the Wynne hate. Wynne totally got on my DN's ******, and she was quite relieved on returning from defilying those lyrium-riddled ashes silly surfacers so adored, to discover Wynne telling her she was a horrid person and deserved to be killed by the darkspawn. The old bag wasn't even worth chasing after and killing.

Wynne can be the first subject for Avernus. maybe Avernus can dissect her to find out why the Fade shines out her bum!

LOL - though if I were to defile the Ashes, I'd be sure to bring Wynne and Morrigan along, so Morrigan could demonstrate the "inferiority" of her Apostate training. Image IPB

Oh isn't that the truth!  That's the one thing I've always found laughable about Wynne and Morrigan.  Other than the crappy specialization they saddled Morrigan with, Morrigan is hands down a far superior mage both in spell selection and arcane knowledge than Wynne ever is.

I really don't know what all the fuss over Wynne being a healer is about. I much prefer having a mage that adds to party DPS or controls the battlefield.

Yeah, was also thinking about that when I wrote that post. How best to divide and conquor the Bannorn successfully and productively.

Spirit healer is extremely useful in major boss battles, like Flemeth or High Dragon, where revival and lifeward make a difficult battle easier. But beyond that..nah, don't really need a healer in most cases, even not speccing Morrigan with healing spells. I did enjoy my last playthrough as a blood mage, getting to kill Wynne through blood magic and ice.

Morrigan definitely is the superior mage in damage and control potential, and her approval bonuses make her even more so. Wynne only gets more magic to terrorize her enemies with....spell wisp.<_<

Me too.  I think when you start out and don't know the spells as well, it feels safer to have a spirit healer.  I always play destructo-mages, though, and much prefer Morrigan's setup.

I will admit that on occasion I would take Wynne, Morrigan, PC mage and Alistair and we were pretty unstoppable.  But that's pretty much the case with just Morrigan and PC mage plus two bruisers, too.

I agree with the whole "Wynne is necessary due to her healing spells" idea being rubbish. While the Spirit Healer spells are nice to have, they are not necessary at all. Simply giving Morrigan the basic Heal spell and making her a Spirit Healer for the Group Heal spell is more than enough. Hell, it's not even necessary if you can control your enemies before they can attack you.

But of course no one can beat Wynne in her affinity for the Fade. It shines out of her bum after all... *sarcasm*

Hell, if Wynne had a "Fade Shine" spell, where she controlled enemies with her bright shiny bum, I would consider using her more often.

And yet Sten and Morrigan fare much better there than her.
