With E3 soon upon us I thought it would be a good time to post our hopes, wishes and predictions for Mass Effect 4, only to have them crushed when Mass Effect 4 is actually revealed in just under 2 days.

Like wouldn't it be a cruel joke if it turns out the protagonist for Mass Effect 4 is actually James Vega?

I actually liked Vega, but I'm sure BSN would implode if he was in ME4 even as a squad member.

Playable races is probably my biggest wish. Not sure which i'd go with, but Turian, Asari, Human and Quarian seems likely. I am hoping it is after Mass Effect 3 to be honest. I want to see the universe carry on, even if it means canon ending from Bioware. Small scale story, no more than 5 - 6 companions. Less focus on romance as a sub-plot, tie it into the main plot or don't use it. Just build on the gameplay they already had from the trilogy, it was mostly fun and very engaging. Should probably make a list!

I'd like a story more focused on exploration and adventure. Rather than being the sole hero saving the galaxy from anti-climactic villains.

1) No playable races, human only protagonist.

2) Soft-reboot, nothing from ME1-ME3 retained beside the concepts.

3) No Maako, but that ship has sailed.

4) Space opera plot, not space exploration sim.

5) Dialogue skills + crafting.

Well if you believe the leaks the story focuses on finding a new home for humanity in the Andromeda galaxy, though how they got to Andromeda and why they needed to abandon the Milky Way is currently a mystery.

Good writing.

Might as well ask for a different developer.

I'd really like to have more playable races instead of being human only again, but I really doubt that's going to happen. <_<

Playable squadmates. It was supposed to be a thing back in ME1 and I would like this feature, even if some people complain it makes the game look like Dragon age.

I would be happy with no Mako, but I already know how that turned out.

It was back in ME1, before Bioware cut (a lot of) what they did with it. See below for the x06 gameplay:

I'd love Mass Effect with that kind of combat.

Don't know how many times it would have saved my ass during insanity runs.

The ability to customize my PC with any skills from any previous games class system. In other words I pick skills as I gain levels, and invest points in them when I gain the points to do so. Also more biotics, so much biotics.

- I want the game to retain its space opera roots. The [rumored] idea of setting up and/or maintaining colonies doesn't sound very compelling. I want it to feel like a space adventure, rather than have too much focus on exploration itself. Exploration was one of the weaker points of ME1, and while this game will likely not repeat environments like that one did, the vast open space driving around itself, even on a faster, more maneuverable vehicle, might end up feeling like a waste of time. To be perfectly honest, I'm just happy enough being able to read interesting codex entries selecting planet after planet, which I've done in all three games prior.

More specifically, I want the game to retain a tone akin to ME2. For all the faults I find in that game, one thing it does very right is set up a fun and interesting atmosphere, and while the sum of its parts are admittedly very goofy, the missions themselves are actually quite fun as are all the colorful characters, baddy or otherwise that we encounter.

- Have good hair XD

Who can't even park his damn car!  :P

Anyway, hopefully the next game builds upon the same great ME3 gameplay, but with a very strong story attached to it as well. Having playable alien characters for single player seems to be on alot of peoples minds, so hopefully BioWare can find a way to make it work.

Lots of hot babes, weight lifting, **** talking, ship battles, planet exploration/customization ie towns, mini game like cards to be played with squadies/other players, main character race selection and lots of overcoming unbeatable odds.
