Philae successfully landed on a comet last year, but went silent earlier than expected after missing its planned landing site, and ending up in the shade (where the solar panels couldn't recharge.)
Scientists had hoped that the comet's natural rotation might bring the necessary sunlight to the panels, but had no way of knowing whether it would work out.
Apparently, it did. 
Good to hear - was wondering what would happen to Philae after it went dark.
That is cool. I'm guessing they'll continue with collecting data on the comet?
They managed to get a couple of minutes' worth of data, but I don't know how much has been sent since the original contact.
From what I gather, the data was considered historical, indicating that the lander had possibly been awake and functioning earlier, but unable to communicate with ESA.
