The site was working fine up until yesterday. After browsing it and making an account I decided to buy Neverwinter Nights DE from GOG and suddenly it stopped working :(. It appears the site is working fine for everyone, at least according to downforeveryoneorjustme.com, so I assume something went wrong on my side. So far I tried resetting router and a different internet browser, both to no avail. The error Chrome is giving: "ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT". Could someone help me out?

Could be a DNS issue. You might try pinging the site to make sure you computer is finding it correctly. E.g.

ping neverwintervault.org

I mention this possibility because I am traveling lately and have had to change my DNS settings because the local WiFi have had trouble looking up many sites. Fortunately, there is always Google's Public DNS.

I doubt your particular IP is banned, or if it was, you'd get the message telling you so.

It's possible there is a banned IP through the route from your provider to the Vault, stopping one from visiting.

You can do a traceroute to verify.

In Windows, select Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. This will give you a window with a DOS prompt.

Enter the word tracert, followed by a space, then the domain name.

tracert neverwintervault.org

This is extremely useful when trying to find out why a website is unreachable, as you will be able to see where the connection fails.

Pinging the site seemed to work. I'll try changing the dns settings when I get a chance later tonight. Thanks.

I did a tracert as you said, but I'm not really sure what the information means. It seems there are several steps or hops or something; at 2 and 7 only "Request timed out" is given. What should I do now?

FP told me your IP is definitely NOT banned, and yesterday you managed to reach us 3 times (2 password resets included).

Yeah, that was right before the trouble started. As I told you before those password resets were being sent to my spam folder without my noticing, so I unaware resent them. Actually my account doesn't even have a password. All my problems started after making an account.

Thanks for the trace route via PM, helped out a lot.

Your IP and trace route IPs were not blacklisted at the admin level, but the IP you sent Werelynx was banned on the system level.

Too many password attempts in a specific amount of seconds, so the server protected itself. *shrugs*

Had to get another with higher access to remove it since I don't have direct file access to the server, but you should be good to go now.

Please try and let us know.

Thanks,

FP!

Hi,

I got a similar problem as MSeph.

Can't login to the new community vault. I had a login, I guess, but forgot my password.

So I tried to create a new account, but I do not get any automated notifications about accounts at all (I guess I would have to "activate" the new account?). Email-spamfolder is empty.

Regards,

U.

This is not a login issue, but a more general site problem. One minute ago, when trying to go to http://neverwintervault.org/, I got the following error

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [no address given] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Apache/2.2.22 (Debian) Server at neverwintervault.org Port 80

Could be just me, but I am having no issues with other sites (like this one, for instance).

That was a brief issue today that our technical admin fixed quickly. Thanks for the heads up.

Is it down? Connection keeps timing out on neverwintervault.org and neverwintervault.net. It was probably the password attempts thing as mentioned above, I changed it and managed to forget it in the span of an hour :P

Yup. Logs show you attempted four or five passwords within a specific amount of seconds, and no doubt, the site has locked your IP on the server side to protect itself.

I've let Niv know, as he's the only one I know who can resolve the issue.
