I used to always play with level 1 consumables on main 360 account for what seemed like forever. But then when 3-4 hour 99K Arsenal Packs shopping spree finally happened with maxed manifest as a newly acquired bonus, I ended up with all these level 3-4 consumables maxed in that one shot shopping spree. Never again having to worry about consumable issues ever again (man, words cannot describe how good that finally felt). And that changed me.

 

But now on new PS3 account, consumables issues abound. And it's much worse then before because I don't have the proper leveled up weapons, pierce mods and so on. So using Harrier level 1 with EB and level 1 Drill Ammo on my FQE ain't quite the same, but still OP enough for Gold and epeening, I find. ... Ok, you got me, lolPS3 non-BSNer pugs.

When playing on alt accounts I will many times not use any consumables at all. Or equip that explosive I ammo ...

 

Consumables are a crutch.

 

OFC I balance this by using level IV stuff when I play my main account.

I always roll optimal, I use my level 4 cryo and level 3 explosive ammo.

Well I'm taking the troll bait and will answer on a serious note.

 

On platinum I Always use max level consumables in all slots with no exceptions - anyone else not doing the same gets a vote kick (no lvl 1 cryo ammo is not ok for platinum you cheap ****).

 

On gold I use lvl III or II consumables.

 

When promoting and doing the first game on lol Silver I use lvl I consumables.

I use max level everything on my main account and a mix of 1/2/3 stuff on my alt account. I do have some level 4 stuff on my alt but I don't use it. I always play gold and I always use something in every slot.

I always use optimal setups when I'm in questionable-looking PUGs.

 

I often use non-optimal setups when I'm using a good weapon and I'm comfortable with the group I'm playing with.

No, at least not on gold or below. Not because I want to gimp myself or anything, it's just that my favourite weapons happen to suck. I always use my best setups and gear on plat though.
