I assumed "flashlight romance" referred to Geth as opposed to actually violating oneself with a flashlight?

Please Google "Fleshlight".  We'll wait for your return.

Awww.....they killed the thread.

No fun at Bioware anymore.

But the best part is either the mods know EXACTLY what a fleshlight is or they had to Google search it.

I'm betting on the former.

Shame really.  That thread had potential to be the next "Husk Dong" thread.

No, they monitor their shiny new forum actively. The thread would have lived longer without the "fleshlight" in the title, it would have been better to choose a more vague title and bring the content in the post itself. ^^

Probably. That forum is going to be more heavily moderated than over here in the wasteland.

Vorcha singing western songs? That's Johnny Cash, one of the greatest artists of all time, a true legend.

I wasn't trying to offend the song in the slightest, even though I didn't know it was Johnny Cash. Might even look up other songs from him, I liked that one! ;)

I don't get it. Why exactly are you so thoroughly negative about the game?

The trailer was an early teaser trailer, you know that. The game is still 1.5 years away, nothing is finished yet. Fallout 4 is 5 months away, of course it'll have a more elaborate trailer (which wasn't anything special either, to be perfectly honest).

Adding more stuff to ME3MP, while nice, would never bring the playerbase back to what it once was, and it's getting smaller every day. A new game is needed, unless you just want to play with the same handful of people month after month - until they get bored too.

Maybe it's just me, but I think that even after a very successful game it's important to iterate, innovate and try to create something new. That's the only way there's even a slight chance of ever creating something that's actually better. I don't know if MEAMP will be better than ME3MP, but ME3MP was Bioware's first foray into Mass Effect multiplayer, and I'm sure they at least have a lot of ideas they'll want to try out.

Uhm, I think there's some misunderstanding about my position. I see where they could come from, I didn't explain myself the right way I guess.

In the first post you quoted, I wasn't necessarily referring to the games themselves, but rather to the trailers. I was saying that it's pretty easy to get more hyped about a great trailer like Fallout's than about... Bits and pieces of something called MEA. And, to be honest, I was a little bummed by how little was showed. I was hoping for the game release to be a bit closer and for us to find out at least... Something. Something more. But that is just me.

The reason why I'm negative on the game? Uhm. Let's break it into SP and MP, shall we? Given the important the MP has had in ME3 for me, I think it's only fair that they're basically treated like two different games altogether. I wouldn't mind paying full price to play only the MP.

So, SP is... Well, unknown? I mean, we don't really know squat about it, other than they're clearly trying to innovate the series and try something new, focusing on exploration and all. Which I'm fine with. There are the usual fears that they'll do it wrong and we'll end up with a wtf game, but I do agree that innovation is something good in general, and I'm glad they're trying it out for ME4. I just hope they get it right.

So other than that, there's not much to talk about yet... And that's why I said that I'll save my breath for now. I'll just add one thing here... And it'll be that something about the two teasers we've had had me worried. Because innovation is good, even great, but only when done right. And doing it right means, to me, not altering the... I don't know, soul of the games? Not sure how to call it... The feelings you get, the atmosphere you can breathe in the games. And so far, what I've seen has me worried that they might **** that up. I'll be glad to have a new, different take on ME, but I still want it to be ME. It's just a feeling, based on nothing really, so I'll wait and see how things develop and hope they change my idea about it. Nothing major for now, just a concern.

The MP is a different story altogether, and my concern about it is... A bit more substantial, at least in my mind (warning: what follows it just my idea, not really based on hard facts, but rather on thoughts and intuition. Take it as you will). Because ME3 MP was a lucky little gem. It was lucky, because it was little and wasn't given attention at first, before it showed its potential. Which means that EA didn't put much of their greedy hands inside its development, and Bioware was able to do what they know how to do and pull off a great gem of a game. Now, with ME4, the situation is going to be very different... Cause EA is gonna be well aware of its potential profits and my idea and fear, given its history, is that it's gonna interfere with the MP development in a less than positive way. And it doesn't take much to screw the formula of ME3 MP, you know. All it takes is one wrong, greedy move, and ME4 MP will be ruined, no matter how good it actually is.

So yeah, I fear for the next MP. The more I think about it, the more I do. I still hope they'll prove me wrong, mind you. I'd love for them to. But until I'm proven wrong, I'm gonna keep a cynical approach to it so I can be less bummed if I happen to be right :P

And yeah, I'm perfectly aware new content for ME3 wouldn't cut it. I was talking about myself. And me, myself... I would consider it a foolproof way of having something good added, with respect to a potential much bigger improvement that takes within itself the potential to be an enormous screw up too.

Ok Nuke...I want my money.

Thanks for explaining! I think I see where you're coming from, though I don't quite share your point of view.

Specifically, I don't see the success of ME3MP as much of a fluke as you do. There were lots of fresh ideas and excellent design decisions - and sure, some bad ones too - and I bet they still had lots of ideas they weren't able to implement because of lack of time, resources and experience. I think it shows that ME3MP was a game the devs themselves loved to play (which was confirmed by a number of dev comments), and to me, that's always a great basis for further development and successful sequels. Furthermore, the Collectors stand as proof that the dev team was able to learn a lot during the process, as it's clearly the best faction. ;)

This might be a bit subjective, but I think that for the last couple of years EA has shown small signs of improvement as well, it doesn't seem quite the evil corporation it used to be. I think it has actually learnt some lessons from its failures like the rushing of DA2 and its selection as the Worst Company in America. It has made some classy gestures lately, like allowing inXile include the original Bard's Tale trilogy with the new Bard's Tale IV for free (EA has the publishing rights). Don't get me wrong: EA is still EA - but I think the worst part is already over, and I don't think they'll be meddling with the development process as much as they used to.

Yeah I agree that there's some hope and that EA might be improving somewhat. After all, they had some major managing overhaul. I guess I can keep some hope on that, but I don't wanna go overboard and then get basically hit with a hammer in the face, you know? ;)

As far as what you said before that... I have faith that Bioware can create a quality MP product. I do. I'm just afraid EA will ruin it. Because no matter how good the game itself is, if it proves to be anywhere close to a pay2win scenario, I'm out. And there are lots of other things they could do to screw it over...

In the end, we just gotta wait and see. Personally, I'll keep my hype down and my head in other games in the meantime. Not that it'll be hard to do with all the goodies about to be out... :D

So what's next, let's petition for an "advanced" romance option in MEA. "Bioware, please support rape and incest in ME: Andromeda!".

Looks like it's been a busy day for the mods with deleting threads and posts.

They deleted several of my posts where I defend the Amazing Johnny Cash from ignorant morons, but chose to keep a lot of really silly things in the same thread.

Seriously mods, that's bad even from you.
