Given Bioware's track record, the game is most likely going to be pushed back into 2017. It's not even just Bioware, other game companies do it. EA gives holiday 2016 as a date so it doesn't seem that far off, but as we get closer to it, it'll be pushed back to 2017 and people will be understanding because it'll just be "a few months" more.

I don't understand why they don't just wait until a game is less than a year off before announcing it, when they're more sure of when they will be able to get it out without any huge delays like for Dragon Age Inquisition.

They need to take a page from Bethesda.

I don't expect to release in 2016 too. I think they still have a lot, better say tons of work to do and are mostly creating assets for a story that isn't fully fleshed out yet. We have a long wait upon us. But well, there is enough other stuff to do. ;)

DA:I was delayed because they added other races. Hopefully it won't happen with this

I think that pushing it from October to holidays is delay enough :P

I wouldn't mind an Early 2017 release, or late 2016 release...

I am just excited.  No gameplay? No problem for me.. I want plot details NOW! lol

So it would come out when I predicted?

I'm okay with this.  :)

January or February 2017 would be fine by me. I fully expect it to happen.

After announcing Dragon Age: Inquisition for Holiday 2014, there was only one delay and that was from October to November. It was rumored with no official announcement for a 2013.

I'd rather things got delayed then a rushed and crappy game be sent out that needs lots of patching. Plus this will be Frostbite and probably not very mod-friendly so there is no hope that modders will fix it if it's bad. So I hope they do what they need to do to get it right and if they need to delay to do that then fine.

That said the wait is going to be brutal.

It was the other way around if i remember correctly, they add in races because they were delayed.

Bioware's QA is not very competent or intelligent. Look at DAI. Loads of bugs at the start (what were they doing that extra month?) and especially that accent change bug as well. VERY annoying.

Bioware makes great games...but they need to learn from Blizz how to polish a product.

I feared this would happen. Thats why I wanted a Spring 2016 release so if delayed, it would fall to Holiday 2016 and no later. But claiming for a Holiday 2016 release, that is just giving them leverage to move into a possible April 2017 release.

This also confirms that there will be NO gameplay videos this year at E3 and that we would have to wait for next year possibly to finally see gameplay.

They first claimed October 2016. So the delay is already applied.

If they delay it again, cakes will roll...into someone's heads :P

If we're lucky, we will be seeing gameplay at the VGX show in Dec.

Sure but a delay is always better if a product really isn't ready than rushing something out. But yeah DAI had a bunch of bugs and performance glitches for a game that was delayed. I'd still rather they err'd on the side of caution though.

That argument went out the window with the Witcher 3.

Another reason I don't think it'll be delayed to 2017 are holiday sales. No way they're gonna miss that time to make $$$.

That is true of any game anymore even with delays I can think of several over the last year that were delayed and still had patching and balancing needed.

Edit:

To be honest Dragon Age: Inquisition was a pretty good release on consoles, where there were issues was the PC at least from my experience.

Do you have like any idea how much code as big as DAI has? It's hundreds of thousands lines of code, probably even more. I personally don't know how much code game DAI has but imagine that it's a lot.

Truly polish a game like that? We wouldn't be playing the game if they were given that chance to fix every single bug which I doubt is even possible.

So VERY annoyed of people who complain about things that are truly difficult to fix and the devs do their very best to deliver as stable game as possible given the time they have.

Also, Bioware will have a presence at SD Comic Con I reckon, so we might hear some more deets then for those fretting about having to wait until E3 next year. Plus N7 day. Love the theatrics of some of the posters on the BSN.

I don't mind about delays too much. I'd rather have an awesome game in 2 years than a mediocre one in 1 year.

Personally I don't mind if its until E3 2016 or before then.  With how people have reacted to the previews of Dragon Age: Inquisition from the Gamescon footage that was release or how people solely focused on Cassandra breaking down down the keep gates I can fully understand why BioWare is going to make sure that something will be 100% in the game before presenting it to us now.

The issue is not the length of developement time, but the fact that companies keep announcing games years before their projected release dates. I get that games get delayed and that the time between a game's announcement and its release might sometimes end up being longer than the developers hoped for. However, game companies need to keep quiet until they are near completion of their projects. THAT'S what I don't like.

The whole "I don't mind if they delay if it makes their games better" or "I prefer they delay rather than release a rushed game" is not why people get put off. It's announcing games while giving little to no information, no gameplay, no nothing and giving a vague release date that has a high chance of being pushed back.

They can "delay" all they want, as long as they stop giving us placeholder release dates (or even worse, no release dates at all) and announcing years before.
