What's all this about "flying whales" now?

One of the uncharted worlds from the trailer had a large flying creature that sort of resembled a whale.

All this talk about flying whales reminds me of this.

Ah yes, massive acid-spitting worms and mind-controlling plants are just fine in the Milky Way, but a large flying creature in Andromeda is somehow over the line

Don't forget that the same acid spitting worm can somehow spread its spore throughout space, like a palm tree spreads to islands via coconut.

Anyway, the "flying whale" reminds me more of a giant sea slug than a whale.

Oh yeah, I forgot about those gas bags on Eden Prime. They looked like rats mixed with Portuguese man-o-wars filled with helium.

Given actual aliens are unlikely to have anything we'd recognize as DNA, I'm willing to stretch my disbelief a bit concerning alien reproduction.

dextro vs levo proteins should be the least of Shep and Garrus' biology problems concerning kids.

But it's total nonsense. We know how this stuff works - it's not an obstacle to story telling quite in the same way FTL is an obstacle. Yet what Bioware does is silly - e.g. telepathic communication-ish and mind reading that the asari have or that the rachni have (or really even the Thorian).

Flying whales - which could theoretically be possible with a particular atmosphere that should lead to flying people - isn't that big of a deal.

Especially if you have an infinite improbability drive. ;)

I believe we had a tweet or some other comment about it as far back as 2012. Its first public reveal must've been the video showing off pre-alpha screenshots at last year's E3, if I'm not mistaken :) followed by concept art later that year on November 7, and finally its first trailer at E3 this year. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong :P)

When'd they announce the name?

The flying whale? It could be a long distant relative of the high dragons from Thedas

It sounds promising. A new adventure in my favourite RPG universe?

But - seriously - you have so extremely much to live up to with this. Don't mess it up!

The success of the Mass Effect trilogy is something I can hardly imagine you can continue. It's unique.

Don't give us a million fetch quests and combat scenes. It's the story that counts and the characters in it. It's the adventure.

The fancy graphics and effects is a minor ting. Remember that!

No, not really.   I loved ME2, but I have waaaaaaaaaay more hours into ME3MP then I ever would have thought of putting into ME2.

All I want to know is, if it is going to be another trilogy, whether to wait for the last game as apparently it will be the best place to start.

Indeed, but I'm more concerned about how good the explanation for getting there is going to be.

Exactly !!! have a GOOD back ground Story, don't do a Destiny...

It would Not Surpise me One bit if they try to copy what bungie did with Destiny.. And make this game the base game then just continue to add DLC's to it..Over and over agian..its the New cash cow for these comps. EA and Activision ..

Oh, I'd love for the ship to be like a main hub with a combination of the functions found on the Normandy and the functions found on the Citadel.
