That is, IMHO, a remarkably shortsighted opinion and it wounds me (not really, but still) that it is perpetuated 20 years on. The shows diverge exponentially, especially once DS9 reaches its fourth or fifth season. The final three years of DS9 are so utterly separate -- and, to my taste, superior -- to Babylon 5.

Yeah, I know, I'm just ribbin' ya. The first season was a blatant copy, but DS9 definitely developed into it's own show after that, and a very good show at that. Not up to Seasons 2-4 of B5, but still very good. ;)

Sorry, there's just nothing else in nerd culture that I get more passionate about. LOL. DS9 and Babylon 5 were these two shows I was totally glued to as a kid, and I still introduce folks to 'em all the way into my mid-20s.

I know plenty of people like that (and to some extent, I am one too), hence why I make comments like my earlier one :P

Whether or not Paramount truly committed a royal ripoff against JMS in declining his offer to work on a show and then initiating work on another show with a similar setup, the end product of both productions is very unique.

Of the two, I thought DS9 was the better, if only because it warned us of the coming Kardashian oppression.  Farscape wasn't too bad, either.

You know me.... I have to say it. Also I like DS9 better simply because I watched it before a friend told me about Babylon 5. So in a way, Babylon 5 copied DS9 in my eyes

Waiting for reviews and ME:A forum commentaries is good. I am doing the same.... no pre-orders ever gain, for me, because of DAI.

Not buying because of a failure to explain the ME3 endings is childish. On top of that, you might be missing out on a very good game.

Same for me. DA:I was such a big disappointment that I can't trust (my former favorite studio) BioWare anymore.

Referencing old friends?

Well, if it's long gone from the original series, the only people who could show up would be asari or krogan.

Groan. Who's expecting another Liara-love fest?

It's odd how people who hate Liara seem more obsessed about her potential presence in Andromeda than the ones who like her. But anyway, no, I'm pretty sure we won't have another "Liara-love fest". At most she'll have a small cameo, but I doubt we'll get even that :)

You should check out firefly. It only lasted one season on fox but it tells the back story to the movie serenity.

okay i dont know if its been asked, but what is with the lightbuld helmuts i would be very scared if i had to be in one those on a hostile planet and i was thrown against a  terrain that was rocky or could shatter the helmut there seems to be no protection and  second what are they going with  is in the past before first contact or in the future when the relays was blown up yes i know they could rebuild them thats a given but i wouldreally like to know ore indepth of the lore concerning this chapter of mass effect...

But i love how its looking overall

I don't think the helmets look that much smaller or less robust than the standard N7 helmet Shepard used, unless you're referring to something else than N7 Guy's helmet in the E3 trailer and concept art. And as long as we get actual helmets for everyone, I wouldn't even care that much how lightly built they seem :P

As for timeline, we don't know for sure, but I think it's safe to say it's not before first contact (assuming you're thinking of our first contact) since we have humans mingling with the other species :) hopefully we'll know more soon!    Brain fart. Timeline is after the trilogy, as the post below reminded me...

ME:A is set long after the events of the Trilogy, it was revealed the same day the trailer was released.

While we aren’t ready to go into too many details just yet, as you saw in the trailer and can tell by the name, this game is very much a new adventure, taking place far away from and long after the events of the original trilogy.

Well going by what they are shoiwng us the helms in this drawing and  the trailer teaser those helms look to be very more open compared to the the last chapters i.e the faceplate goes all the way up to the back of the head with nothing protecting the top of the helm just the sides and the back of the head, so it was told that we are in the future after the trilogy so i assume we are dealing with new hardened glass and shielding for being shot in the head by snipers we would be easy prey if we try to defend are selves with the glass hems

i can not wait for ME:A  really cant, i love it even the mako they brought back i am loving the new design of it  looks like dune buggy on steroids lolnad i did miss the e3 saying that was after the trillogy kinda figured would have tio be  since they have almost all the allies stuck in SOL do i would assume that they worked together and got all the tech advanced to point where they could get unstuck in sol and back to the other home worlds

Personally i'm going to wait and see what the Andromeda gets in reviews and if Bioware dose not at least explain the ending of ME3 in the Andromeda game I will most likely not buy Andromeda. Some may say thats steep or a narrow sighted decision but, I was burned once and if Bioware will not give some closure or explanation to the trainwreck that was the ending of ME3 then there is no reason for me to trust their game making in Andromeda. Don't get me wrong I want to like Andromeda, but fool me once once shame on you fool me twice shame on me.

I feel your pain bro but its gone... its done... head cannon FTW :)

Also meant to say don't cut yourself off from what will probably be a great RPG game, for all their faults Bioware do make games we love to play over and over and that ain't nothing

It also makes games that make me not want to return t a series I really liked.

Dark Matter is pretty decent, yeah. There's the onset of a real resurgence of space opera on television, and I hypothesize it's studios and networks putting a few chips into the betting pile that Star Wars will temporarily resurrect public interest in the subgenre insofar as television is concerned. As a lifelong (quite literally) space fan, I have high hopes. There was a real rut between around 2007 and 2014.

Dark Matter is crafted by some of the folks who gave us the Stargate television franchise, by the way. Cool stuff.
