I think most people are in for a big shock when it comes to actual gameplay footage.  People are so used to the Unreal engine, they'll be expecting Unreal graphics.  The graphics in Frostbite are better, cleaner, more sharp, but still...   Ya can't go changing and not expect to have some people ******.

if i compare game today the game who make me cry the most  is witcher 3   : the game is great in all aspect ( great history , great character , ) . something  i lauch the  game  only to walk and watch the scenary and find something unexpect . the last expension with "gunter " was fantastic. One of the first time i see a caracter who is as much evil as kain in legacy of kain xd . i expect much of the second expension . the game was a little buggy at the beginning but more the time pass  more it become perfect.

i hope for such an experience with mass effect andromeda .

It wouldn't have. If DAI was human-only, the Inquisitor was just going to have a few different backstories to choose from, similar to what they did with Shepard. When they added the other races, they even took some of the backstories they had for human and adjusted them for the different races, like for example making a human mercenary background become a qunari mercenary background. It wasn't going to be some magical thing if they stayed human-only.

Staying human-only with another human-centric story is one of the worst choices Bioware could have made for Mass Effect: Andromeda.

It's simple, they can make 4 races with 2 different origins that have barely any effect on the game and are often extremely inmersion breaking or they can make human only, 3 origins and make the game work smoothly around them.

It's even worse in Mass Effect, the difference between elve, dwarf and human is much much less than the difference between a krogan, asari and salarian. Even Qunari aren't even on that level of difference culturally and I'd argue they are by far the weakest class and "hardest" (as in to get into) to play as roleplaying wise. The more you try to tackle in the less you end up with, DAI and ME3 are great examples of that.

The more origins they are the worse the appearance and armor customization will be, the less people will mention who you are, the more bizarre super neutral dialogue will be included to try and not break the game for any race. Themes like "we gotta fight for humanity" like in ME1 can't be done. You are severly understimating how different a whole species character should be to make decent sense in ME.

Since Bioware started voicing their characters there was no going back, if you want to roleplay as whatever you want to be a game like PoE is a better idea. In a voiced story driven- character interaction game like Mass Effect, trying to please everyone will only end up in half-pleasing half upsetting everyone instead. Trying to roleplay in DAI and FO4 have been some of my worst experiences with rpgs that ended up with me just accepting I am playing as generic Inquisitor and generic Shaun's dad, the voice acting was so restrictive that it's impossible to fill the gaps with head canon yet both characters are so neutral trying to give you some freedom of roleplay, achieving neither investment nor roleplay.

In a perfect world having multiple species have their own unique game experience would be amazing, I was one of the people hyped for the return of multiple origins in DAI but after going through the whole ME franchise and then DAI, I realized ME's way is better as far as current technology/budget and development restrictions go. Especially in ME's more personal story telling, to word it somehow, DAO was only about stopping the blight, DAI about stopping Cory. ME trilogy felt much more like Shepard and co's journey than just stopping the reapers.

edit: (whoops, just realized I replied abit late)

You can't even do that in PoE. It's not necessarily the most varied game from an expression standpoint.

The wording you are looking for is half-pleasing, half-upsetting SOME people.

Sorry to disturb the discussion (but I think I'm on the good topic), I have a little question and can't find an appropriate answer : did Bioware already say if MEA will be just one game or the start of a new trilogy ? I'm not sure, I've read different things on internet and would like to know if they actually said something official. Thanks ~

No official word on that yet :)

That answer might be more confusing than the opposite. Dragon Age is a different kind of series than Mass Effect with decades-long leaps in time and different protagonists, at least so far. (DA4 might be looking to change this, of course.)

Looking up, I, with tear-dimmed eyes, saw the mighty Milky Way. Remembering what it was -- what countless systems there swept space like a soft trace of light --

I'm personally pretty (and cautiously) excited about this. As long as Bioware doesn't turn the protagonist (Ryder?) into a Mary Sue, the game seems to have a lot of promise.

As much as I loved Shepard's story in the ME trilogy, it was getting a bit rote. Time for a fresh take on the universe. What better way to do that than a brand new character in a different galaxy.

2.2 million light years is a long way from us. Things should be completely different there, in relation to the context of the lore as it is now.

I can't wait to see more. I like the Mass Effect series and find myself playing them over and over again. I have all 3. The thing I am wondering about is, if you elected to let Cmdr. Sheppard live at the end of ME3, why can't they have him in in this new installment? It would only make sense, right? C'mon Bio Ware, throw us a bone and figure out a way to keep Sheppard in this new installment. B)

Maker, no!

By ME3 Shepard had so much baggage and had so much autodialogue he stopped feeling like my character at all!

Agree let's Shep's future be in people's imaginations and let's have a new protagonist who hopefully can make as much of an impression on players.

A few (like maybe 2) days before E3 at EA Play.  But before E3.

Not sure ME1 Shepard was better, with 3 options leading to the same dialogue and being forced into certain views.

Did he ever?  He certainly didn't for me.

It took me three tries to create a Shepard that wasn't broken by the very first scene, and even that Shepard didn't make it off the Citadel intact.

No, Shepard was never my character, no matter what I tried.  All the later games did was make Shepard harder to control (the interrupts) and add more non-interactive sequences (cutscenes and auto-dialogue).

You're right that the series got worse at this, but it was never good in the first place.

I have another question : I've played the trilogy late and then missed all the marketing around ME1-2-3. Can you tell me what they showed/did each time to promote the games ? For MEA  we already had a little trailer and some artworks (backgrounds only), but I would love to see more art studies or the squadmates before the game will be realease. Did that happen before ? Thanks :)
