If it helps, I only found out the "issue" with the ending from the forum.
I have NEVER seen the control/low-EMS destroy endings (someone posted the refuse and synth endings).
And frankly, I never will. We destroy them, or They destroy us. End of story.
I appreciate discussion on these things as much as anyone - the passions these games inspire...
I guess one aspect for me, is that the ending is the story that was written...
I mean I didn't like the ending for Private Hudson in Aliens, I didn't like how the original ideas for the life-cycle and basis of the creature were changed (even though i dig the way it became), and I certainly didn't like what became of the survivors in Alien3... but, I didn't write the stories. They're somebody else's stories, and I was along for the ride they provided. Would parts of me want other things to have happened in stories I immerse into so much? Well, yes, but also no. Because these are the stories they are, and they make me feel. They make me think. And I enjoyed them immensely.

I locked that privacy stuff down as soon as it finished installing.

I hope you know that with the forced patch update scheduler, that some of those settings get set back to default. Which means that MS knows what sites you're hitting.
