While we aren’t ready to go into too many details just yet, as you saw in the trailer and can tell by the name, this game is very much a new adventure, taking place far away from and long after the events of the original trilogy. You will play a human, male or female, though that’s actually not the character you saw in the trailer (more on that later). You’ll be exploring an all-new galaxy, Andromeda, and piloting the new and improved Mako you saw. And through it all, you will have a new team of adventurers to work with, learn from, fight alongside of, and fall in love with.

I'm a little torn on this, but I have no real problem staying as a human.

I would rather play as a human protagonist.

 

But I understand others wanting to play as another species.

I actually don't mind. I think the Inquisitor was a bit more 'cardboard' than Shepard or Hawke so it's not much of an issue for me.

Expected, Mass Effect never was the full fledged RPG like Dragon Age is.

Not because it has to be human... but I want them to pick a race and craft a story around that.  If it were Krogan, I'd still say 100% approval.

 

Admittedly, human is the most sensible.

The thing about race selection is that if we got that then BioWare would be less able to tailor the story to our character's background.

So naturally I'm disappointed that there's no race selection.

I expected this and its fine. One less thing to worry about, they can fine-tune other aspects of the game.

Approve. Having focus on one race limits the number of changes that have to be made and more focus can be placed on a tighter story. (Also no gated romance crap.)

Really happy about that decision. Now they can spend the ressources, they would have needed to make several races playable, on more important parts of the game (which is pretty much everything else)
