Yep. That basically ruined it for me. Everyone wanted the option to play as an alien and Bioware once again did not listen to the community.

I'd say I approve.
Playing as another race is always fun, but focusing on only humans will probably give us more customization options (regarding armor and other accessories), so I'm cool with it.

Have you been reading this thread?
I'd say it's at least 50/50 for and against.

I have no problem at all playing only as a human. I will get to play as an alien in the multi player section I am sure.

Boring. The only thing that could be worse is if they say the Reapers are the villains again and paragon/renegade system is back.

There's no option to roleplay in MP. The "playing as an alien" was playing as a human with a different skin.

Human only means better cinematics and animation too guys. We won't have issues like DAI did, dwarves having sudden growth spurts, qunari being out of focus etc.

I'm torn on this.
Multiple playable races is interesting in theory, and it might be fun to play as an Asari or a Turian. That being said, that is ONLY if they can pull it off without having the differences being almost solely cosmetic, and without having to cut down on cinematic/custcene conversations to make room for protagonists coming in various shapes and sizes.
If it was determined that they couldn't have multiple playable races without cutting back on cinematic/cutscene conversations or having the differences only being cosmetic, than the devs absolutely got it right in limiting it to human only.
I think a lot of people that request or demand multiple playable races do it with the expectation that there won't be cuts elsewhere to make room, which may not be a realistic expectation.

Sorry RoboticWalker- the fanboys here only represent a small fraction of the community. People here are just happy another game is coming out. I for one do not want to play Shepard 2.0 which is what this is. The fact that people are okay with that doesn't change the point that it's a poor design decision especially since they want to distance themselves from ME3's horrid ending(s).

"You will play a human, male or female"
There's not an "only" there, but it's pretty definitive.

I'd probably choose to play as a human either way so I don't mind too much. :3

Bottom line these type of games people want to picture themselves has the char, so you want humans and that is things roll.
Life sucks so people pretend they are the video game char, nothing wrong with that my shrinks told me its fine and asked me some follow up questions once

Can't say I dissaprove, if the human protagonist gets a lot of care.
I prefer a single detailed human character than 10 alien races that merely have any dialogue change, or something special apart from a new model.

Water.
Actually, the BSN is the most critical of all ME fans. In fact, most dedicated communities are more critical than the rest (if you don't believe me go to the Fallout 4 forums, they're currently whining about the Mass Effect style dialog system). I'm sure the majority of Mass Effect fans are just happy they get to play the game again. (Most Mass Effect players didn't dislike the ending either)
Also, it's not exactly confirmed we're Shepard 2.0 (unless you consider the definition of "Shepard" as merely being human). It's unknown exactly what our affiliation will be in the next game and how our PC will act.

It's basically been proven to be fact that multiple races messes with the quality of a story. They have to mold all the variables of the story around each race, and in order to compensate they make the story more generic to account for the changes. If they did as we all hoped the game would take near a decade to finish, and would have an insanely high budget that no company could ever make back. That's the long and short of it.
