Remember, if the survey leak is accurate, we'll be heavily concentrating on a situation that will "determine fate of humanity" by finding them a new home. Being human looks like it's going to be a significant narrative element of ME:A.

Best announcement that could have come from this game. Look at what race selection did to the Inquisitor, boring with no substance and every other race besides humans(and maybe elves) has little relevance to the story.

Humans all the way

If we are stuck as human, at least let this character be our character rather than be "ours" but really just be Bioware's.

Disappointed.

Still the main reason i play is for the characters so as long as they don't screw that up i'm fine.

I think the ability to play as a different race is exactly what ME needs to feel fresh.

I don't see the difference, really. They're all just BioWare's characters, just with the ability for us to set different appearances and choose from a list of dialogue options. I just hope that this game isn't rife with autodialogue like ME3 was.

I really wanted an Asari female as a 3rd choice. Their voice sounds very much Human, so they could share the same voice actress!

I guess the whole "representing the best of Humanity" is still a thing.

Hmmm... Bioware could make this up to us by adding personal side quests with the new companions. Imagine if you could have played a mission with Liara as the main playable character, or Garrus, or Tali. That way we can still get the thrill of playing as other species!

They made way too many assumptions of how players would play as Shepard, to the point where it no longer felt like I had any input but was instead playing as a set protagonist

Would multiple playable species be cool? Yes. Am I mad, because humans only again? Absolutely not.

Kinda disapprove because ME4 from the outset was Bioware's big ticket to make a game with a design, story, premise, whatever to support multiple species, and they didn't take that.

If the story justifies it, no problems but meh. Everything about the game reeks of Mac Walters, his rule of cool and human-centricity.

Human-centric was THE pitch for ME1. As I said: ME2 and ME3 actually move away from that, which is really saying something.

That is flatly stupid. This is something already overwhelmingly justified by the resources and graphics costs. it should be the people wanting multiple races to justifiy it to people who don't.

And from I've seen in other games, there isn't enough.

ME2 is the worst culprit of being human-centric. The game beat us over the head repeatedly with the "Humans are special" message.

No. That's ME1. If you let the Council die you literally have an extended sequence about the rest of the galaxy bending the knee to humanity. The whole game is about the incredible dominance of humanity socially and politically.

ME2 just had some nonsense about humans being made out of the right stuff, but lore wise humans were heavily nerfed in terms of their power and political development and dominance.

That toned it down a lot.

Mass Effect 2, a game where you work with a human-centric organization to save human colonists who are being harvested because humans are the best race in the galaxy. Yeah, nothing human-centric about that.

It was expected, though looking through the eyes of Mass Effect as a Turian or Krogan or any of the other races (along side humans) would have been welcome.

As opposed to being the only human Spectre while working with the human Systems Alliance to hunt down an alien that declared war on humanity, culminating in an endgame where the human military fleet singlehandedly saves the day and an epilogue with humanity become the (potentially sole) superpower in the galaxy?

ME2 toned it down. As silly as it is to say it.

Yeah that was sort of the point of the games. I'm not sure you can gripe about that anymore than whining about how DAO made "the wardens" so darn essential.

Frankly given the less than sterling record of racial selection in games and the way it basically turns into "which skin does your really generic hero want to wear" I really don't see why anyone wants mile wide and inch deep game play.

Like I said in the other thread, people say "non-human", but no one says they want to be a stationary plant. Or a hive mind of wasps.

RoboticWater- Once again sorry, but most players don't even know there's a Bioware forum much less post here and give their opinion.

And yes most players disliked the ending. A big poll was taken not long after launch with 90% saying it sucked. Many polls on various websites afterward continue to confirm this. Stop twisting the truth.

Yes it is Shepard 2.0. How else can people view a N7 human Mass Effect hero?
