How did people feel about the pre-set characters in DAMP?  I personally liked it and would like to see that happen in MEAMP as well.   I thought it added something interesting to the characters instead of being a random character with no backstory that you basically couldn't customize (outside of color) anyway.

I think it worked okay for DAMP, but I'm pretty sure I preferred ME 3's approach.

I lean towards the camp of wanting full customization of the characters, but I know that's not realistic. I still want that sense of a blank slate, though. While it is technically a small thing, it does make a difference for me. In ME 3, all the characters pretty much ended up with commonly-recognized nicknames, like "Juggy" or "Volguard." But somehow, when they have an actual name and backstory, as in DAMP, it feels like a borrowed character.

If they go the DAMP route with fixed names and backgrounds, I'll get over it pretty quickly. I'll still feel like I'm making them my own when I build them. But I like being able to name them/customize them myself better, to the extent resources allow for it before it detracts from the game as a whole.

The DAMP presets did nothing for me. Mechanically I hate the repeated dialog which gets annoying after the first 100 times you hear it. I'm also not sure knowing that the Necro is an angry bitter character and the Elementalist is happy go lucky burning people alive type made me feel attached.

I do know quite a few people who muted all dialogue just so they could turn those comments off. Personally, I just wanted the ability to mute the "Over here!" spammers.

I actually have found a lot of the flavour dialogue to be pretty funny and entertaining. I haven't played as much as most of the people I know, so I've had less time to get tired of the repetitive ones, but I could listen to Luka's dialogue all day, every day.

When it comes together well, I think that the dialogue was a good, entertaining feature. But, in the long run, it would have been better without it. While I appreciate the effort that they put into it, I don't think it works in the grand scheme of things. I hope they add greater depth to the options in DAMP with a patch, so that it is easier to fine tune how much of all that you have to hear.

I hope they set up lobbies similar to DAMP so there's no chance of dropping into GiP's.The in-game kick feature is a must also.

Yes, those were important features. I was almost always happy to join a game in progress in DAMP, because I could look everything over before committing. I dreaded it in ME 3, because it had so many ways to be annoying.

The decision to have only one character per kit in ME3MP or just the handful of individuals in DAIMP was incredibly, mindboggingly godd**n f*cking *******'s **** of ***** ******* stupid. WTF were they thinking? Could anyone shed some light on this?

How is it a good idea to prevent players from experimenting with builds? To prevent them from conveniently switching from one build to another? To prevent them from playing how they want to play? To prevent them from having fun playing the game?

If I want to play a game with Kit X / Build Y and then another with Kit X / Build Z, why can't I do just that witout going through a silly and potentially time-consuming respec process? Would effortless switching from one build to another somehow unbalance the game? Would it ruin the fun for other players?

How did that system add anything positive to the game?

Bioware, I'm sorry if I sound angry here, but please get it right this time. It's not that hard, just don't overengineer it. Give us simple MP character creation and the ability to create as many MP characters as we want, and it's all good.

Well... It did add money for EA. Not sure I'd call that positive myself... But they certainly would :P

Geth could be around under any ending, because the Crucible only affected the Milky Way, IIRC.  If the Geth had sent ships out of the galaxy (to Andromeda, perhaps), then those Geth would have survived.  This would be extremely feasible with existing technology, as Geth could all power-down and wouldn't need to be sustained.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll love ME:A Multiplayer, just as long as they don't mess with my precious RNG Store.  Giving players control over what upgrades they get lessens the excitement and anticipation factor of opening each equipment pack.

Well, I'm sure it incited people to buy packs in order to get respect cards. It probably wasn't worth much money, maybe next to none, but maybe in their mind it was different? That's what I've always thought, at least, that that was the reason.

I never got any respect cards! Were they ultra-rare? No wonder everyone always keeps stealing my kills and generally just treating me like dirt. ;)

As for respec cards, I find it hard to believe a significant number of people used actual honest-to-god real money to buy packs to get them. People always keep saying that EA makes craploads of money from the RNG store, but I've never seen a single shred of evidence to back that up.

On the other hand, I'm convinced that the inability of switching from one build to another without respeccing, severely restricted respeccing and the tedium of promoting did have an effect on how quickly a player would get bored with the game.

I'd be willing to bet the current system had a negative impact on EA's revenues. No way to be sure, unfortunately.

Eh, that would be a logical line of reasoning. Doubt that'll work with EA devs... :P

But yeah, I have problems picturing that too, but you'd be surprised at how much stupid **** people pull off.

I don't buy that.

Players who bought the game funded the multiplayer. DLC kept the game fresh and the playerbase alive which attracted new players which brought more revenue. My guess is the profits from the RNG store were a nice little bonus, nothing more.

I recognized that name so I gave it a like, but everything about the post was perfect. Unfortunately I couldn't give it a second like.

More like the execs thought to themselves; "Holy crap! Thank the maker that part of our game didn't suck."

People are talking a lot about a competitive MP mode.

I hope the people who want that get that, but it would be beyond my ability to handle. I hope that, if it happens, it's separate and independent from the cooperative MP, and that we wouldn't miss out on anything for not playing that on that mode.

I just hope for other types of co-op modes this time than just horde mode

I still doubt a competitive MP is ever gonna happen

While that would be fun, the problem with multiple modes is that it divides the playerbase. I'd rather have a single mode that's well designed and offers enough variety: better objectives, boss battles, dynamic changes in the battlefield etc.
