This might be a stupid question, but do they ever explain what happens to the archdemon's corpse after it is killed? I guess it's possible it disintegrated after that weird light pillar stuff happened...

Drain it of blood for use in Joining potions and cut up the pieces they might need for armor. Expect the rest to be burned, unless you need some of the rest it for magical or medical purposes.

Yes, it definitely doesn't self-destruct since the wardens need to harvest it for...juice.

I think that explosion we see are the souls colliding and being destroyed, or in Morrigan's case, the soul being transferred to her.

i think the esplosion is just cinemtaic effect....

In dao an incredible light,and in DAI only that little blue glowing thing?

Probably. It looks so intense, you'd think the AD exploded. 

 

I'm still trying to figure out if the Warden is trying to pull out the sword as the lights are flashing or if they are driving it deeper into the AD. Even the companions exchange a wtf look.

My interpretation was probably trying to pull it out. Perhaps to release the AD soul or power or magic or whatever. Because if you watch the end as soon as the GW pulls it out then when get the explosion.

1:15 is when they stab the AD. It looks like they're pulling it out, and right when they do at the end of the sequence is when the burst of light happens.

So my assumption is it's like puncturing a container to release the contents. Puncture it, then pull the object out to release what ever is inside. 

 

But that's what I gathered for myself at least.
