Mainly

i) A good story

ii) Good characters

iii) Grey choices

iv) Actual long term effects of those choices including blocked tech which would result in loss of weapon unlocks and increased delays such as somewhat slower mako speed/ship speed/etc (ie an actual incentive/disincentive for players). Also perm loss of team mates. Determined players would probably find hacks to unlock these but casual players would have a greater motivation to do another playthrough

Everything else is extra

Oh, one more thing I want.

Get rid of Paragon/Renegade thing.

This kind of black and white (or red and blue...) morality should go. Preferably somewhere far, far away.

Especially in the form, that promotes choices being consistent with a certain path - because then you are not making a choice, you are merely further developing your 'diplomacy' skills.

                                                                                           <<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>

Let's be pragmatic for a sec.

Based on

1. the leaked poll questions,

2. on Shinobi602 100-200 planet systems in the Helius Cluster,

3. plus the fact that "If anyone is concerned that online will take away from single player, I assure you that SP will be MASSIVE in the next Mass Effect.”, according to Chris Wynn, the Senior Development Director for the game,

4. plus the hints found in the video trailer

5. plus the introduction from Conal Pierse

The game design is probably focused on action, exploration, colony growth and expansion, conflicts, squad mates' personal quests, main conflict resolution and somewhere in there, time for romance.

So, what would I like to see.

1. interactive engaging banter. That is, with characters that

    A. comment about daily things, the current situation, the enemies or reflect on individual squad mates actions or love interests, as you pass by

    B. Squad banter when appropiate... perhaps during Mako exploration or in R&R places.

2. Engaging personal quests if any.

3. Side quest pertinent to the main story arc

3. Non-repetitive mako exploration with re-used planet terrain, please

4. Some optional exploration activities that may produce significant results (ie: advance tech, enemy emplacement, better gear/upgrades... etc)

5. Non mandatory co-op or horde mode to obtain upgrades or game advancement.

5a. Whatever you do, don't drop the Mako from the air.

5b. Use the landing shuttle in some areas.

6. A game control module specifically tailored for the PC device input controls such a the keyboard and mouse.

7. Both keyboard and programmable mouse re-mapping ability for the game controls

8. New weapon techs

9, Retain and expand on the Biotic Powers, combos and health regen abilities.

10. Helius Cluster sector map showing enemy controlled and influence, human controlled and influence, pirate controlled, resources and Outposts.

11. Provide real time feedback on the human and enemy control sectors plus the "no mans land" sectors that expand/contract as you make good/bad decisions.

12. AI teams that can spy or sabotage

13. Resource mining teams

14. Ability to name your saved games.

15. No limit on the number of saved games in the PC

16. Engaging, funny romance. Romance optional

17. Form fitting combat/vacuum suits and many casual attire options or none

18. Use the shuttle/combat shuttle in air combat (FB3 + Battlefront shows it can be done)

19. Mechanism for the main char to "grow" his/her Command influence... forget that paragon thing

20 . Last, but no least, alien bipedal forms that make sense and are not the imagination of a damaged mind.

21.  Ok, I give in... introduce new arachnid species...hehe

PS:

We need a bar or two,  with exotic dancers or/and maybe a beach or two for R&R.

As it seems from the tiny bit of info we have that ME:A will be at least somewhat "open world" (or, in this case, more "open galaxy"), with us having the freedom to do more than just linearly follow a plot, it seems the perfect opportunity to address a major flaw with many such games:

Time never seems to pass for the world unless you advance the main plot.

You can spend as long as you like doing whatever you want, but the world (or worlds) never change. This is then typically exasperated by having a main plot that implies a degree of time contraint (i.e. the big bad is going to do something really evil soon and you have to stop him), but then doesn't punish you in any way for spending months wandering around collecting flowers. (More linear, story centric games do technically suffer from the same issues, but it's much less obvious as you are regularly advacing time by moving the plot forward.)

Think back to ME1 - Saren is chasing after the conduit. You're in a race against time. And yet you can go and explore all these uninhabited planets, racking up months of in game time travelling, and Saren won't get any closer to finding the Condit. Which is really really wierd. Why hasn't he won yet? Hell, why doesn't the galaxy change at all when you spend all this time travleling around, scanning planets and drving off cliffs in the Mako? Everything is exactly as you left it. I mean, c'mon, Shep might've been Space Jesus, but she wasn't DIO. Nowhere is she described as having the power to stop time, but yet that's what the game seems to suggest she's done - the universe is stuck in a static time bubble that only moves when Shep is ready for it to move.

So here's my suggestion. Make time matter. Make the galaxy change with time, not just our actions. Let other people in Andromeda do things on their own timescale, not the player's. Don't put a plot that implies that we need to be doing something now if you're not going to have consequences for not doing it now. Make it so that, if I leave a world, then come back months later, it isn't in an indentical state as to when I left it. Make it so that inaction, or delaying taking action, is every bit as much a choice as action, with its own consequences.

Amongst a great many things that I've seen mentioned; interactive environments, more in depth/realistic romances, etc, one thing I'd love to see is the ability for the females to not walk like they sideline as quarterbacks or have a pair of danglies.  I don't mean slay'em Jessica Rabbit walking but there's got to be something in the middle to be feminine.

Admittedly... one of my biggest peeves that have nothing to do with actual gameplay.

I thought further on my prior post, about having city hubs on a few planets to explore, and I think this may be too ambitious and taxing on resources. If the immigrant species were to build great cities then I think it would begin with a citadel-like stronghold similar to what we saw in the concept art. It could naturally evolve into a place of great wealth and commerce, exhibiting the various contributions of every participating immigrant culture, and be a tribute/memorial to what was left behind in the Milky Way.

This brings to mind one of the minor complaints I had throughout the trilogy; limited citadel exploration. I think it would be great if BioWare gave us large areas of uniquely explorable regions on the new citadel (if it is even supposed to be that). I would imagine most of this exploration to be quest related, but still providing us with interesting background information on the locations and its citizens.

From Saitgamer

or just a guy who likes bioware games

I am not asking for a filter just a option on the game to lock out adult content with a code that can be set.

this would allow for those who want to not see it to not see it. This would also allow parents to share parts of the game with the family.

I know this is for adults. That said many adults are not interested in that sort of thing and adding a option like this would allow for a wider audience ie better sales.

what I want to see in the new mass effect game

exploring and opening up the map. with a good use of objectives like DAI made use of. while some of those felt forced many worked well stick with it and make them good.

more personality depth to characters in general. but I prefer a small in depth cast to a large cast that lacks depth.

Please ad more personality to enemies as well as friends. this is part of what made the boss fight in DAI so disappointing not only could I have completed it about 5 levels before I got there but I was only fighting the guy to finish the quest line not because I really disliked him. This is for all villains in the game ( exept the mage leader that one worked better)

Renegade vs Paragon vs neutral vs class interrupts

If you can add more player interaction into the story do it. Not combat in cut scenes HATE That. but in cut scenes I do not like starting at the screen and shouting at my character "NO NO noooooooo you did not just do that" please less of those moments. more of try as you might it just wouldn't work out the way you wanted.

I like non violent solutions. working out these is usually much harder then just bulling your way in. And like the little leach in the lord of the rings sometimes these mid level enemies still can have a part to play for good or ill.

if you can make combat more reflective of the environment like you did in DAI somewhat it would be fun. more destroyable objects, more field changing effects. Better options on how or when the rest of the party uses abilities and who they attack. I also really did like the parts of the game in dai that changed after I completed objectives. Enemy types changed and over time if not taken care of others became rampant. It felt like I made a difference in that area and changed it's future. It helped me develop investment in the game when taking on enemies actually made a difference and they did not respawn the same way.

plot. if this is a exploration mission then the plot could be very fluid with a lot of different endings possible depending on what you do and where you go.

please have this reflected in the missions and in the crew and in the people you establish ties with.

The universe is unknown please do not crimp our options when interacting with it to much as this will feel more direction driven. Unless you can really work that into the plot I do not want to be pushed from one place to another.

I want environments that can be interacted with. For example, destroying them, picking an object as a Biotic and using it as a Shield, Put a mine in that spot as Infiltrators...

But this, of course, would be freely, on your own choice, and wouldn't depend on Plot Timing or Plot Reasons for the Scenario to be destroyed.

I'd like sensible armour and helmets for combat and planet exploration and other clothing on the ship and peaceful areas for companions.

Only 6 or 7 companions and not the overblown 12 of ME2.

That overly idealistic "good" choices blow up in your face when it makes sense and not magically turn out "for the best".

Good ending with closure - I do not want some cliffhanger setup for the potential ME5.

I want blind fire most of all. It's a long overdue mechanic in this franchise.

ME3 did have blind fire. Shepard would still leave cover, but less than if you aimed. I suppose the designers thought true blind fire was an unfair mechanic in TPS, as you can always see where you're shooting.
