That's not... ugh what was I saying? We were talking about boobs and One Piece right? Mass Effect more like One Piece... One Piece and boobs... yes, more boobs in Mass Effect please.

All jokes aside. Mass Effect could learn a thing or two from One Piece. Mostly narrative structure. (excluding fillers)

Friendship over being jesus?

Mass Effect is all about friendship too (if you play paragon, and even so in ME3 that theme is all over the place even if you play renegade)

One Piece is no different in that regard. Luffy is a childish figure who fights for his friends and wants to achieve his dream, and on the way he finds adventure and saves people. He is a hero who says is no hero and is uniting people to fight under his banner. Which is what Mass Effect is about too. Union to fight a common enemy.

And there's nobody like Jesus. Only Jesus  ;)

I'm looking forward to meeting the Reapers in the Andromeda galaxy, because if intergalactic travel is possible, they would've already established the Mass Relay system there millions of years ago.

I'm sure BioWare thought this through?! Not.

you are making a huge assumption just because something can happen doesent mean it will,

if United States wanted to they could cause a nuclear holocost and conquer the world wiping out most if not all life on the planet, doesent mean they will or that its a good idea.

the reapers have no reason to WANT to go to andromeda key here is wanting to i love ice cream i have money doesent mean i am going to run out and go grab icecream

Actually Mass Effect and One Piece are more similar than one may think.

-In Mass Effect Shepard travels to different worlds through space with a ship and encounters different scenarios, races, people. In One Piece Luffy travels through the grand line with his ship. Each island is a completely different environment and story, with different diverse characters and a well crafted story.

-Shepard gathers a very diverse crew who help him along the way and their bonds grow as they travel and fight the reapers. Luffy starts to gather a crew of weirdos like him as he advances through the ocean, and each of them is great in their own way and have their own sets of abilities and tantrums, just like in Mass Effect.

-In Mass Effect you have subplots in each world and then a main plot that covers the entire game and is related to the subplot. In One Piece you also have this. There is the main bad guy in one island and also the big threat and competition for the end of the story.

-One Piece feels sometimes as a videogame. As the crew advances through the grand line they become stronger and gain respect in the pirate world but they also encounter tougher opponents. There is a sense of achievement when they defeat a threat but you also know there are stronger opponents out there. And there are no ridiculous power upgrades like in dragon ball that break the balance and the story.

-One of the main themes in One Piece is the adventure and exploring the unknown. This is very similar to Mass Effect but even more so now, where we will have a ME game really focused on exploration as a part of the main plot.

-Shepard managed to achieve his objectives because he was a natural born leader and his crew followed him no matter what. Luffy can be sometimes dumb as a rock but his ingenuity and loyalty is something that inspires his crew. The theme of "we are a team and will follow you wherever you go" is very very present in One Piece and Mass Effect.

-In Mass Effect the reapers represented this great force that considered itself a natural ruler who maintained the balance and order (through anahilation). In the same way in One Piece the world government is a militaristic goverment ruled by an oligarchy that exherts lethal force to maintain "order" and "peace" through fear. One pervasive theme too is the ideal of freedom which Luffy idealizes vs the ideal of order and justice, which the World Governement proclaims to represent. Both ideas can be perverted because there are pirates who unlike Luffy, are very evil in their freedom, and in the World Government there are complete fanatics who commit atrocities and war crimes for "justice". These things are present too in Mass Effect with the twisted interpretation of order by the reapers but also because organic species like the krogans or the quarians have proven that the reapers are a bit right in some matters (even though they MUST be destroyed)
