Interesting that the non-PC in the trailer has N7 on their armor, whereas the concept drawing of the PC on the Bioware blog post does not.
Just something worth noting. The leak never mentioned anything about being an N7 either.

Maybe it's a heirloom and the person we saw was Conrad Verner's great-great-great-great-grandchild. ![]()
A placeholder.
My bet as well. It's just a random generic guy with an N7 logo to give an impression of the vibe they're going for.
Take a look at Pre-final Mass Effect 1, or on the back of the XB360 cover art lol. (at least in EU). It has pictures of beta versions of Ashley and Garrus and some Salarian teammate who was never in the game. It's kind of like the same with how this trailer had this nameless dude and supposedly a Krogan and a Turian as well.
Its Vega's son...xD lol

My guess: that's the villain and it is Reaperized-Shepard.
The whole galaxy map bits reminds me of TIM's room actually.
Glad others see what I see.
That isn't to say either of us are right with this. But I'm just glad.
And if Mass Effect takes on more of a moral grey tone in these matters, 'antagonist' in this game could very well not necessarily = 'villain'.
If 'Shepard' (not even saying that would be his name) is somehow the 'antagonist', I sure as hell don't think Bioware would utterly tarnish him in every way. We had CloneShep for that sort of thing.
I'd be happy to deal with a TIM that isn't, well, TIM, but instead much more clearly likable. Come on, we should just Ascend and join The Shepard in glorious harmony! Or something. I need my meds.
Yeah... no. As funny as that would be, Conrad only has a slim chance of surviving ME3. If you skipped Jenna's mission in ME1, then Conrad dies in ME3. If you don't shoot him yourself.
That's what he wants you to think. Conrad Verner is basically Mass Effect's Kaiser Soze.
He's the CO that dies before our PC takes command.

My heart stopped for a second when I read this.
I want it to be a mentor or an antagonist, but I do not want them them to break my heart about Shepard.
Please, not about Shepard. Not again.
Glad others see what I see.

After the ME3 ending, there's no way Bioware would just crap on the fans again. On purpose.
This is only real lead on the story that Bioware has given, an extremely odd one at that, because there is no reason Mr N7 McCool Helmet can't be a stand in or placeholder for the protagonist the same way Default Shepard was in the CGI trailers for Mass Effect 1.
Since Bioware has said outright that helmet-guy isn't the Protagonist, there needs to be some reason why helmet-guy can't be the protagonist. Unless a bunch of enemies wearing N7 armor appear, there probably won't be any reason why the player can't equip a similar outfit.
He's Shepard. Just like every other soldier in the Systems Alliance Clone Army.
An explorer who goes missing? You then head off to find him. But could be all sorts of things really.
Just asking how do you know that the guy in the trailer is not the PC? Can you provide a BW statement in this regard? Thanks

You will play a human, male or female, though that’s actually not the character you saw in the trailer (more on that later).

Who would still be alive? None of the Salarians, that's for sure. The only ones with a long life ahead of them were Liara and Grunt. Aria, Aethyta, Samara, Wrex are all close to the end of their lifespan. Turians and Drell don't live longer than humans and that's pretty much it for familiar faces.
Plus, not everyone lived till the end of ME3. Wrex could die as early as Virmire, the others can all die in ME2 or ME3. Except perhaps Liara, the writer's pet.
Calling it now: the only "familiar face" will be Liara. She'll also be the only love interest.

Heh... or... Battlemaster Urdnot Grunt, leader of the Krogan Empire, as love interest! ![]()
Well Major Coats was on Earth for the final push so I doubt it's him or Vega. It should be someone who left before the end if they want to remove any trace of the endings from the series.
It's Django.
I don't understand how this guy is not a PC. I mean, he's busy with player's prerogative - choosing missions.
It will be funny though if we play errant boy for some cool N7 guy.
Perhaps BW chose to give the multiplayer a bit more context this time. You, the playable character, has his/her team of soldiers (your multiplayer characters, like in ME3) that s/he sends on missions on different planets. Instead of those missions just being a glorified countdown (like DA:I's War Table missions), you get to play those missions with others online. Your team of multiplayer characters is called N7 in honor of the Alliance soldiers, just like in ME3.
Actually, that would be awesome.
