Oh my goodness, do you people actually think that just because it's the song in the trailer that it's always going to be playing in the background while playing the game?  It's a freakin trailer!!!  Simma down a bit.  I highly doubt that when you are mashing around in the Mako or in the middle of combat, a western song is going to played.  Calm down and appreciate Bioware for doing something a little different.

I like Johnny Cash but I'm not sure it was a good fit for a Mass Effect trailer either.

Having said that, I doubt it is indicative of what the actual game's soundtrack is going to sound like. Nearly all trailers for ME games have used music that wasn't in the games.

Liked the music. Expecting an uncharted Wild West feeling to the universe.

I like Johnny Cash, but hearing that music I thought I would hear The Lone Ranger yell,  Hi ho silver

Hated the music alot; the soundtrack of the previous 3 games is incredible and irreplaceable.. seeing that trailer just upset me.

There's nothing wrong with the music and I doubt it's a good representation of the overall soundtrack, but it did not give me Mass Effect vibes.

In fact I'll probably go listen to Sucide Mission for hundredth time now.

The trailer was okay, but personally, the music choice didn't fit.

Is it me or was the music coming out of his communictor? which means maybe soundtracks to listen to while exploring space?

I get why it was chosen, I just don't like it. Doesn't remind me of Mass Effect at all and I honestly thought it was just the opening to the press conference.

Would have won more points if they used Mass effect themed music. It really didn't fit and I hope it's not them straying away from Mass effect's look and feel.

Is there anything that hasn't been complained about in the trailer yet?

- Colour palette used?

- Type of armours people were wearing?

- Font that was used?

- Amount of lens flare and bloom?

The music also inexplicably makes me wonder if there's any space police whose cars and watches I can wreck by driving recklessly with the new Mako.

Okay, not inexplicably. Kudos for whoever gets the reference.

I thought it was good. Better than some shitty dubstep.

Ironically dubstep would have fitted more the aesthetic of Mass Effect. We are not talking about quality music but about what fits mass effect and Johnny Cash, as much as I love his music and respect him... doesn't fit with Mass Effect.

I know what they they tried with that song. To give the sense of adventure in the unknown. But this isn't the wild west even if you give me a footage of a dry planet resembling the wild west, this is space  B)

Liked for the second part.

I tend to actually like it when they pair trailers with music that doesn't traditionally fit.

I suppose the country/cowboy does, sorta, pair well with the new frontier angle. I mean, we will be going all Manifest Destiny in space.

*sigh* Need I point out the obvious allusion to exploring and settling a new frontier being somewhat akin to the days of the Old West? Well, it looks like just about everyone else in here has done exactly that for me.

The music is a hint, i think.

The words tell a story. It's exactly what Bioware would do.

Anachronism for everyone!

Play some music that fits the contemporary setting.

Johnny Cash transcends all bullsh*it genres and trendy boundaries. His music works in any given situation because he was that brilliant of a musician. I liken him to Tom Waits.

I dont think most people even know who Johnny Cash is, or get just how cryptic and dark his music is. It's perfect for a trailer about space: A frontier to be explored, no matter how dark and deep and bloody it can - and WILL - become over the course of the game.

If anything, FemShep was the very definition of a beaten up old cowboy just looking for an end to the chaos so she could kick up her boots and relax.

At first it did not fit, but after watching the teaser more than once... it kind of grows on me. When I first heard the Firefly universe came to mind.

Regardless, I would have used emotional music. But the song in the teaser was still alright, too.

Probably Mac Walters. Seems like his kind of jam.

EDIT: Could also mean this game takes influence from Fallout because that's another vibe I'm getting.

Because it was either that or Nickelback.

Remember the old DAO trailers? It could always be worse.
